Nina Flack and Osku Palermaa end 2008 European Bowling Tour season atop the women's and men's ranking

2008EBT15NinaFlack_small.jpg 2008EBT08OskuPalermaa_small.jpg Nina Flack from Sweden and Finn Osku Palermaa are the 2008 women's and men's European Bowling Tour ranking champions. It marks the first victory of a Swedish bowler - man or woman - in the 9-year history of the EBT, while Palermaa followed in the footprints of former men's champions Gery Verbruggen, Belgium (2000-03) and Paul Moor (2004-06) as repeat champion. The top 8 women and top 8 men qualified for the 2009 World Ranking Masters in Naples, Italy. In addition, the top 16 men and the top 16 women qualified for the EBT Masters in May 2009 in Aalborg, Denmark.

Flack overtakes lead in EBT women's rankings after 15/17 events

Torgersen narrows gap to men's leader Palermaa

2008WECNinaFlack_small.jpg 2008EBT15ToreTorgersen_small.jpg For the third time this season Nina Flack (l.) won the women's rankings in a European Bowling Tour tournament. The Swedish national team member, who defeated Norwegian Tore Torgersen (r.) in the title match of the 5th Oltremare Columbia 300 Open, received 100 ranking points to overtake the lead in the women's standings with 644 points. Torgersen moved up one spot to second place in the men's rankings with 593 points narrowing the gap to leader Osku Palermaa from Finland to 64 points.

Palermaa targets to win his second consecutive EBT ranking title as he widened his lead to his nearest competitor, Dominic Barrett, England, to 69 points. Nina Flack (right), Sweden, second in the women's rankings in Lahti, and third-placed Nicole Sanders, Netherlands, narrowed the gap to ranking leader and 2008 winner Kirsten Penny, England.

No changes atop the leaderboard in European rankings after Vienna

2008EBT08OskuPalermaa_small.jpg 2008EBT14KirstenPenny_small.jpg With four events remaining on the schedule for the 2008 European Bowling Tour, Osku Palermaa (l.) from Finland and Kirsten Penny (r.), England sit in the driver's seat in the men's and women's European rankings.There was only one change each in the men's and women's top 8 after the concluson of the 6th Columbia Vienna Open in Austria.  The European Bowling Tour will continue this week with the Ebonite Lahti Open, an EBT Challenger event, at Jouni Helminen's Lahti Bowl in Lahti, Finland from Oct. 12-19, 2008.

Palermaa, Penny continue to lead European rankings after Ankara

2008ALSAAKirstenPenny_small.jpg 2008EBT08OskuPalermaa_small.jpg Osku Palermaa (l.) from Finland and Kirsten Penny (r.), England, held on to the lead in the European rankings after the conclusion of the Ankara Open Sunday, Sep. 21, with 544 and 523 ranking point total, resp. With the help of 150 points from Ankara - the first-ever EBT "Premier" event offered triple ranking points, women's ranking winner, Britt Brøndsted, Denmark, and tournament winner and men's ranking winner, Dominic Barrett, England, jumped into 5th and second place, respectively.

Palermaa, Penny maintain lead in EBT rankings; Moor and Sanders narrow the gap

Tour continues with its "premier" event, the Ankara Open (Sep. 13-21, 2008)

2008EBT05KirstenPenny2_small.jpg 2008EBT05OskuPalermaa2_small.jpg Kirsten Penny (l.), England and Osku Palermaa (r.), Finland, maintained their lead in the women's and men's European Bowling Tour rankings after the conclusion of the 30th Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona, Spain, the 11th out of 18 Tour stops this season. Barcelona champion Pete Weber is 53 points off the top 8 in a tied 16th place with 170 points. With the last-minute cancellation of the 12th EBT event, the 2nd Maribor Open Strike Tournament (Sep. 6-14, 2008), the Tour will continue with its sole "premier" tournament, the Ankara Open at Rollhouse Bowling Center in Ankara, Turkey from Sep. 13-21, 2008.

Palermaa, Penny regain lead in EBT rankings

2008EBT10OskuPalermaa_small.jpg 2008EBT08KirstenPenny_small.jpg Defending ranking champions Osku Palermaa, Finland and Kirsten Penny, England, regained the lead in the 2008 European Bowling Tour rankings in the 4th Storm San Marino Open, the 10th of 18 ranking events this season. Palermaa finished the tournament, a major on the EBT, in 9th position, while Penny was 15th overall and second in the women's rankings. Palermaa has a total of 391 ranking points and Penny 419.

Flack, Barrett overtake the lead in EBT rankings as the Tour reaches halfway point

2008WECNinaFlack_small.jpg 2008EBT08DominicBarrett_small.jpg With 9 out of 18 Tour stops in the books, Nina Flack from Sweden and Dominic Barrett, England, have positioned themselves atop the women's and men's European Bowling Tour rankings. Barrett, who finished third in Scheveningen, Netherlands, has cashed ranking points in all nine events to lead the men's division with 375 points. European Masters Champion Flack used one second-place finish and two first-place finishes in the last three events to take the lead in the women's rankings with 382 points.

Defending champions Penny, Palermaa atop the EBT rankings

2008EBT08KirstenPenny_small.jpg 2008EBT08OskuPalermaa_small.jpg 2007 European Bowling Tour ranking champions Kirsten Penny (l.), England and Osku Palermaa (r.), Finland finished the men's and women's rankings in the Brunswick Belgian Open in third place to lead the EBT rankings after 8 out of 18 events with 309 and 337 points, respectively. The EBT Tour will continue with the Storm Dutch Open 2008, which will be held at Dolfijn Bowling in Scheveningen, Netherlands from June 25-29, 2008.

Penny, Ljung hold on to the lead in EBT Rankings

Penny, who won the women's rankings last year, has accumulated 274 ranking points. Peter Ljung, champion in the Brunswick Euro Challenge, remained atop the leaderboard with 313 points, 11 ahead of defending ranking champion Palermaa, who moved to second place with 302.

Ljung and Penny overtake pole position in EBT Rankings after one-third of the season

Ljung (r.), who won the title in Paris and finished second yesterday in Istanbul, the 6th of 18 events, overtook fellow countryman Martin Larsen, 267-234 points. Penny (l.) finished fourth in the women's rankings in Istanbul to move up two spots with 246 points.

Two Swedes and two Dutch meisjes lead European rankings after BEC

BEC champion Peter Ljung, both Sweden, moved into second place trailing his team mate by 17 points, 204-187. Ghislaine van der Tol (r.), Netherlands, overtook her fellow countrywoman Wendy Kok, by 35 pins to lead the women's division with 225 points.

Larsen, who won the second stop in Luxembourg, has cashed ranking points in all four events thus far totaling 176 points. Dutch national team member Kok, the daughter of former Dutch standout Eric Kok, has totaled 178 points including the victory in the Luxembourg rankings.

European Rankings after 3/18 Events

2006EBT15MartinLarsen_small.jpg Swede Martin Larsen (left) and Wendy Kok, Netherlands moved to the top of the men's and women's rankings after the third stop of the 2008 European Bowling Tour in Tilburg. Larsen, who won the second event in Luxembourg and finished third in Tilburg, overtook the lead in the men's division with 146 pints. Tilburg winner, Mikael Kanold, Sweden is second with 116 points. Kok, who won the women's rankings in Tilburg, jumped to the top in the women's rankings with 30 points.

Luxembourg champion Martin Larsen (l.), Sweden, moved into fourth place while women's rankings winner Marilyn Planchard (r.), France, jumped into sixth place in their respective divisions.

Helminen, Pöllänen are the first leaders in the 2008 European Bowling Tour Rankings

European Rankings after 1/18 Events

2007MOJouniHelminen_small.jpg 2008EBT1KristaPollanen_small.jpg Finns Jouni Helminen and Krista Pöllänen became the early leaders in the 2008 European Bowling Tour rankings. Helminen extended the winning streak of the Finns in the Brunswick Ballmaster Open after defeating American Tim Mack in the title match. Pöllänen beat out Jenni Mäkelä for the women's top spot. Since the inception of the Tour in the year 2000, the EBT starts with the prestigious tournament at Tali Bowling in Helsinki, Finland.
