Malaysian national team member Adrian Ang defeated Pasi Uotila, Finland, 476-424 to win his first title on the Bowling Tour at the Ankara Open Sunday at Rollhouse Bowling Center in Ankara, Turkey, Ang, seeded third in the 8-player single-elimination match play finals, took a comfortable 51-pin lead after a 258-207 win in game #1 and cruised to victory with a 217-217 in game #2. Ang pocketed 10.000 Euro and 100 ranking points for the victory, while top seeded Uotila had to settle for second place, worth 6.000 Euro.
Mirek Cifra and Karel Kutina (pictured left, r-l), both from the Czech Republic, teamed in the second qualifying squad Tuesday evening at Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria, en route to overtake the lead in the Doubles competition of the 7th Columbia 300 Vienna Open with 2467 six-game total, an average of 205.58. Cifra's 1269 pinfall total was the highest in the squad and earned him a spot in the Vienna Open finals on Sunday and the second place in the overall qualifying standings.

The 7th Columbia 300 Vienna Open got underway with a 9-pin No-Top tournament Monday evening at Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria. The event, which traditionally kicks off the five-day qualifying portion of the EBT Major tournament, drew 72 players. All participants were divided in four different average groups (all less than 200 average) to bowl five games in which each 9-count was a strike. 1 out of four from each group or a total of 18 players received a free entries into the main event.
The 7th annual Columbia 300 Vienna Open is the 11th stop of the 2009 European Bowling Tour and one of the Tour's "Majors". The tournament will be held from Tuesday Sep. 29 through Sunday Oct. 4, 2009 at the renovated Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria. 342 players - 273 men and 69 women - from 27 countries have registered for one of the most popular tournaments in Europe. However, some qualifying spots are still available on each of the five qualifying days.

Two of the best female bowlers in the world, Clara Juliana Guerrero from Colombia and 12-time Team USA member Lynda Barnes will compete in the 7th Columbia 300 Vienna Open from Sep. 29 - Oct. 4, 2009 at Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria. Guerrero, who won two gold medals at the Women's World Championships in Las Vegas last month, and Barnes, a two-time USBC Queens winner, will face a strong field of more than 330 bowlers in Vienna.

Mai had games of 226, 259, 204, 168, 269 and 277, an average of 233.83 and added 48 pins handicap to win the qualifying with 1451 pinfall total. She received a 1.000 Euro bonus.
Anja was mere five pins behind with 1446. A total of 56 players advanced to the finals on Sunday.

With 12 out of 28 qualifying squads in the books, the long-time Turkish international leads the field of 94 players - 74 men and 20 women - from seven countries with 1372 six-game total and an average of 228.67. Dan MacLelland (l.) from Canada rolled a 1420 series in the second squad in the 31st Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona and overtook the qualifying lead Wednesday at Bowling Pedralbes. MacLelland started his six-game block with four games between 206 and 237 and finished with 259 and 268 to shoot into the lead. MacLelland as well as Squad 1 leader Paul Stott Jr., Ireland, and Marcial Ovide (r.), who led Squad 3 with 1342, are automatically qualified for the finals on Sunday. 
Ireland's Paul Stott Jr. (pictured left) came out of the gates quickly in the first qualifying squad of the 31st Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona Monday at Bowling Pedralbes in Barcelona, Spain. Stott posted six games between 210 and 247 (247, 234, 247, 225, 210 and 215) to win the squad with 1378 pinfall total and an average of 229.67. As the squad leader, Stott earned an automatic berth into the finals on Sunday. The 31st Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona is the 9th
stop of the 2009 European Bowling Tour and one of the Tour's "Majors".
