Dutch national team member Ghislaine van der Tol (pictured), who
made it to the finals of the 6th Istanbul Bowling Open through the
Desperado Squad, survived five 4-game rounds en route to claim the No.
1 seed for the playoffs over two games total pinfall. The lefty defeated Tobias Karlsson, Sweden, in the semi-final, 425-386, and went on to defeat No. 2 seed Tomas Leandersson, Sweden, 453-403, to claim the EBT "Major" and the 10.000 Euro top prize. Leandersson, who eliminated compatriot Robert Andersson
in the other semifinal, 469-457, received 6.000 Euro for second place.
Andersson and Karlsson earned 3.500 Euro each for third and fourth
place.
23 bowlers from Slovenia took on the lanes at Bowling Center Gladiator in Ljubljana, Slovenia on Tuesday for the first squad in the 3rd QubicaAMF Open. Bojan Kovač rolled five games between 211 and 234 and a high game of 279 to set the pace with 1399 six- game total and an average of 233.17. Milan Malek was the second player who cracked the 1300-bar with 1339 including a high game of 269. Qualifying runs through Saturday, April 18 with the final qualifying squad 13 scheduled for 9pm.
Seven Swedes, two Finns and one Norwegian finished the qualifying in
the 6th Istanbul Bowling Open atop the 158-player field. World Champion
Robert Andersson (pictured left), Sweden, had games of 257, 239,
255, 229, 258 and 234 on Friday en route to win the qualifying with
1472 six-game total and an average of 245.33. Andersson's compatriots Peter Norderson and Martin Larsen, who won the Kuwait Open last week, finished in second and third place with 1441 and 1440, respectively. A total of 48 players advanced to the finals on Sunday,
April 5.
With 12 of 20 qualifying squads in the books, Swede Peter Norderson
held on to the lead in the qualifying of the 6th
Istanbul Bowling Open currently underway at Timeout Bowling Center in
Istanbul, Turkey. Norderson, who posted a 1441 six-game total in Squad 6, was challenged
by two other Scandinavians, who arrived from the Kuwait Open. Tore Torgersen (l.), Norway posted 1418 and Osku Palermaa (r.), Finland, fresh off a runner-up finish in Kuwait, had 1407 to leap into second and third place, resp.
Swede Peter Norderson rolled games of 246, 224,
244, 257 and finished his qualifying block with a low game of 192 and a
high game of 278 to take a commanding lead in the 6th Istanbul Bowling
Open at Timeout Bowling Center in Istanbul, Turkey. Norderson posted a 1441 total in Squad 6 on Wednesday, an average of 240.17 over six games, to overtake previous leader Alexey Parshukov,
Russia, by 92 pins. Parshukov, who led Squad 9 on Thursday morning with
1307 sits in second place in the overall qualifying standings with
1349.

PBA champion Mike Fagan (pictured left) won his second title on the European Bowling Tour when he defeated PBA Hall of Famer Brian Voss, 236-225, in the title match of the Brunswick Euro Challenge 2009 Sunday at Le Plaza Bowling in Saint Maximin, France. Fagan, who has won the 2005 Viernheim Open in Germany, received the 16.000 Euro top prize. Voss, who led the tournament after qualifying and match play and who was also targeting for his second EBT title after his victory in the Ciutat de Barcelona in Spain in 2005, earned 9.000 Euro for second place. Mai Ginge Jensen, who won the women's rankings, finished third with Kamilla Kjeldsen in fourth, both Denmark.
PBA Hall of Famer Brian Voss, who led the qualifying in the Brunswick Euro Challenge Le Plaza Bowling in Saint Maximin, France, won three matches in the single-elimination match play portion on Sunday to earn the No. 1 seed for the stepladder finals. Fellow PBAer and last year's runner-up Mike Fagan secured the No. 2 seed. Fagan took advantage of Joanne Allsebrook's 2-1 semi-final defeat against Mai Ginge Jensen (left), Denmark, after the Allsebrook has started the match with a 300 game. Jo Allsebrook, England, rolled the fifth 300 game in the Brunswick Euro Challenge 2009 and the second by a woman Sunday afternoon at Le Plaza Bowling in Saint Maximin, France. The perfecto came in the first game of her Round of 8 match against Dane Mai Ginge Jensen. It was the first 300 game in the single-elimination match play portion. Former Junior Team USA member Matt O'Grady (pictured left) fired
a huge 1561 series on Sunday morning at Le Plaza Bowling in Saint
Maximin, France, en route to lead the top 16 of Final Round One into
the single-elimination match play portion. O'Grady, who missed the qualifying cut for 52nd place by mere one pin
but qualified for the finals with a 249 game in the Desperado Squad,
had games of 290, 269, 227, 232, 277 and 266 to lead second-place Martin Larsen (1469), Sweden, by 92 pins. Olivier Leroy, Belgium, hit the cutoff number for 16th place with 1317 and an average of 219.50. The top 16 will be seeded 17-32 and meet the top 16 qualifiers in
single-elimination best-of-three games match play. 
23-time PBA champion Brian Voss (l.) won the qualifying in the
Brunswick Euro Challenge at Le Plaza Bowling in Saint Maximin, France,
en route to lead 64 players into the finals on Sunday. The PBA Hall of
Famer had a score of 1537 and an average of 256.17 over six
games. Fellow PBAer Mike Fagan was third with 1473. Joanne Allsebrook (r.), England, was sandwiched between the two PBA
pros in second place with 1484 including 48 pins handicap, a standard
for women on the European Bowling Tour. The women did extremely well in
the qualifying and had eight players among the top 11. A total of 64 players advanced to the finals on Sunday.
