Shoots 1424 series; out-averages nearest competitor by more than 20 pins

2011IWOLogo_small.jpg25 men helped to kick off the 5th International Wroclaw Open by Hammer on Monday at bowling center Galeria Rozrywki Miraz in Wroclaw. Tilo Matthies of Germany, had six games between 223 and 254, the highest game in the tournament so far, to take the early lead with 1424 six-game series. With a 237.33 average, Matthies out-averaged his nearest competitor, Dawid Szpański, Poland, by more than 20 pins. Qualifying continues on Tuesday with Squad 3 and 4. The top 40 after qualifying will advance to the finals on Sunday.

5th International Wroclaw Open by Hammer kicks off this Monday

2011 European Bowling Tour continues with Satellite event in Poland (Feb., 14-20, 2011)

2011IWOLogo_small.jpg The 5th International Wroclaw Open by Hammer (IWO) is the first of six European Bowling Tour "Satellite" events of the 2011 season. The tournament will be held from Monday Feb. 14 through Sunday Feb. 20, 2011 at bowling center Galeria Rozrywki Miraz, a 10-laner in Wroclaw, Poland. Participants in the IWO will compete for total prize money of 26.000 Euro or approximately US $35,200 with 4.250 Euro going to the winner. Qualifying runs through Saturday, Feb. 19 with the top 40 players advancing to Sunday's finals.

Mika Koivuniemi comes from behind to defend Brunswick Ballmaster Open title

Extends Finnish winning streak to 15 and becomes fourth player to win three Ballmaster titles

In the title match, Koivuniemi topped fellow PBA champion and No. 1 seed Sean Rash (r.), United States, 236-191, to earn the 12.000 Euro top prize and 150 ranking points. Koivuniemi will automatically overtake the lead in the 2011 ranking.

Four-time PBA champion Sean Rash (l.), United States, led the way with 1932 (241.50 Ave.). Defending champion Mika Koivuniemi (r.) and qualifying leader Osku Palermaa, both Finland, were second and third with 1930 and 1900, resp.

Defending champion Mika Koivuniemi led Squad 15 with 1451 to move into second place, trailing qualifying winner Osku Palermaa (left, 1467) by 16 pins. Squad 14 leader Tony Ranta is fourth with 1425, Squad 13 leader Määttä, all Finland, 15th with 1397, and Squad 16 leader Dennis Eklund, Sweden, 19th with 1382.

Boyle led the men's field with a 36-game total of 8,180, an average of 227.2, while Pluhowsky shot 7,933, an average of 220.3, at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center in suburban Las Vegas. Boyle won by a 150-pin margin over Walter Ray Williams Jr. of Ocala, Fla., while Pluhowsky topped Liz Johnson of Cheektowaga, N.Y., by 103 pins.

Lefty Kimmo Lehtonen (r.) set the pace in Squad 1 with 1354, but fell to sixth place at the end of day one.

The EBT Gold event, which offers 90.000 Euro total prize fund and a 12.000 Euro top prize, starts its nine-day run on Saturday Jan. 1, 2011 with Squad 1 (Under-24) and 2 (Early Bird) at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time (CET -1). Among the players who have registered for the prestigious event are several PBA champions.

Online Registration for 2011 Brunswick Euro Challenge to open on Nov. 1st

EBT Platinum tournament offers total prize fund of 106.000 Euro

2011BECLogo_small.jpg The 2011 Brunswick Euro Challenge will be held from March 4-13, 2011 at Le Plaza Bowling in Saint Maximin at the outskirts of Paris, France. The tournament has been granted "Platinum" status for the 2011 European Bowling Tour and offers total prize fund of 106.000 Euro with 15.000 Euro going to the winner. The online registration for the 2011 Brunswick Euro Challenge will open its doors on November 1st on the completely redesigned BEC website.

Brunswick Euro Challenge receives EBT Platinum status in 2011

Tournament features 106.000 Euro prize fund, round robin and 3-player stepladder final

2010EBT05BECLogo_small.jpgThe 2011 Brunswick Euro Challenge has been granted "Platinum" status for the 2011 European Bowling Tour by the European Tenpin Bowling Federation (ETBF). The total prize fund will increase by 16.000 Euro to a total prize fund of 106.000 Euro. The organizers have also changed the format of the finals. The 2011 Brunswick Euro Challenge will be held from March 4th through 13th at Le Plaza Bowling in St. Maxim at the outskirts of Paris, France. The 2011 EBT consists of 22 tournaments.
