Osku Palermaa, Joline Persson Planefors win 2011 EBT Point Rankings

Top 16 men and women qualify for 2012 EBT Masters in April 2012

Palermaa, who led the men's ranking from 2007 through 2009, ties Gery Verbruggen (2000-03), Belgium, as the only four-time winner while it was the first career victory in the women's ranking for the young Swedish national champion.

Since the English Open has lost its EBT ranking status, the 2011 EBT consists of two Platinum, six Gold, six Silver and six Satellite tournaments. The total prize fund of the 2011 Tour exceeds one million Euro. The top 16 men and women in the EBT ranking will qualify for the 5th EBT Masters at Dream Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany April 30 and May 1, 2012.

Osku Palermaa widens lead in European Bowling Tour Men's Ranking with victory in Vienna

Lisanne Breeschoten climbs into second place in the EBT Women's Ranking

Palermaa got 150 points in Vienna to lead the men's division with 821 ranking point total. Lisanne Breeschoten (r.), Netherlands, was the second-best woman in Austria to earn 120 points and to leap two spots into second place in the women's ranking with 556 points.

Osku Palermaa regains lead in European Bowling Tour Men's Ranking

Joline Persson-Planefors continues to lead EBT Women's Ranking

2011KOOskuPalermaa_small.jpgThree-time European Bowling Tour ranking champion Osku Palermaa (l.) of Finland regained the lead in the 2011 EBT men's ranking after finishing third in the Chandra Open 2011 Sept. 25 at Chandra Bowling in Nieuwegein, Netherlands. The two-hander was looking for his third title this season after Munich and Aalborg. He received 35 ranking points for his third place finish for 650 ranking point total to overtake previous leader Thomas Larsen, Denmark, by 14 points. Swede Joline Persson-Planefors held onto the lead in the women's ranking.

The 15th Tour stop, the Russian Open, which concluded Sunday, Sept. 18, drew 181 participants from 10 countries. However, none of the top 16 in the EBT men's and women's ranking, entered the EBT Satellite event.

With 14 out of 21 events in the books, Larsen leads the men's ranking with 650 points, while Persson-Planefors pace the women's field with 601 pints. The EBT takes a two-week break and resumes with the Russian Open at Cosmik Belay Dacha in Moscow, Sept. 13-18, 2011.

Thomas Larsen regains lead in men's European Bowling Tour ranking

Joline Persson-Planefors continues to lead Women's Ranking after Bratislava

2011EBT13ThomasLarsen_small.jpg2011EBT13HeidiThorstensen_small.jpgThomas Larsen (l.) of Denmark finished third in the BNC Open in Bratislava, Slovakia, last weekend and earned 70 ranking points which propelled him to the top of the leaderboard in the European Bowling Tour men's ranking. The Dane, who led the rankings already earlier this year, regained the lead with 650 total ranking points. Heidi Thorstensen (r.), Norway, was the sole top 16 player competing in Bratislava. Thorstensen jumped from 16th to ninth place with 326 points.

Joline Persson Planefors overtakes lead in EBT Women's Ranking in Barcelona

PBA Player of the Year Mika Koivuniemi moves into second place in men's division

Persson Planefors, who finished the tournament in sixth place, earned 120 ranking points en route to overtake the lead in the 2011 EBT women's ranking with 601 ranking point total.

Palermaa, Jensen hold on to the lead in 2011 EBT rankings after Denmark swing

Palermaa leads the 313-player men's field with 590 points and Jensen is the best of 234 women with 492 points. Just three men and three women of the top 16 in the EBT rankings competed in the Odense International, the tenth stop of the European Bowling Tour this season.

Palermaa won the Bowltech Aalborg International 2011 and earned 150 ranking points for 590 total points and widened his lead to 150 points. Jensen has an eleven-point buffer over Joline Persson Planefors of Sweden.

The EBT moves to Aalborg in Denmark this week for the Bowltech Aalborg International 2011.

Finn Osku Palermaa held onto the lead in the men's rankings, while his compatriot Mika Koivuniemi (r.) climbed into fourth place after winning the QubicaAMF Open. The 2011 European Bowling Tour will take a short break before heading to Istanbul, Turkey for the 8th Istanbul Bowling Open.

Besides the 10.000 Euro top prize, the two-hander received 100 ranking points for winning the EBT Silver event en route to leap from fourth to first place in the EBT men's ranking. Mai Ginge Jensen (r.), Denmark, finished third in the women's rankings to leap from fourth to second place after the sixth event of the 2011 season.

Clara Juliana Guerrero (r.), Colombia, finished 35th overall and 13th in the women's rankings to overtake second place traling only to leader Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, United States.

The Brunswick Euro Challenge is one of just two Platinum tournaments this season and the points awarded in the tournament shook up the men's and women's leaderboard.

No changes atop the leaderboard in EBT rankings after Wroclaw Open

Three men and just one woman have earned multiple ranking points after two events

201011PBA09MikaKoivuniemi2_small.jpgBrunswick Ballmaster Open champion Mika Koivuniemi (pictured) and women's ranking winner Krista Pöllänen, both of Finland, remained atop the men's and women's leaderboard in the 2011 European Bowling Tour rankings despite they didn't compete in the second event of the season, the 5th International Wroclaw Open by Hammer. No wonder as the Ballmaster, an EBT "Gold" tournament, offered three times as many ranking points as the "Satellite" tournament in Wroclaw, Poland.

Ballmaster champ Koivuniemi, top-ranked Pöllänen overtake early lead in 2011 EBT ranking

Krista Pöllänen, Finland, who was the best woman at Tali Bowl in Helsinki, Finland, overtook the early lead in the women's ranking.
