Norwegian international Björn Einar Rudshagen (r.), who was second in Squad 8, tied previous leader Karel Kutina, Czech Republic, at 1314 to leap into second place due to the higher last game.

Karel Kutina sets the pace in BNC Open in Bratislava, Slovakia

Kutina, who is the coordinator of the EBT gold tournament, averaged 219 in Squad 2 and toppled 1314 pins including games of 237, 256, 187, 242, 202 and 190. Irish two-hander Chris Sloan (r.) posted the highest total on Tuesday in Squad 6 to move into second place with 1309.

Dominic Barrett wins his seventh EBT title in Chandra Open 2013

Lisanne Breeschoten wins women's ranking in Nieuwegein, Netherlands

2013EBT13Top3_small.jpgDominic Barrett (center) of England averaged 229.50 in last round of the finals of the Chandra Open 2013 en route to win his seventh European Bowling Tour title and the 5.000 Euro top prize Sunday at Chandra Bowling in Nieuwegein, Netherlands. Barrett, a one-time PBA champion, totaled 2230 for ten games. His compatriot Richard Teece (l.) finished second with 2222 and Tanner Spacey (r.), United States, was third with 2144 to pocket 3.000 and 2.000 Euro, respectively.

Mika Koivuniemi wins qualifying in Chandra Open 2013 in The Netherlands

PBA star leads a field of 40 players into the finals on Sunday, Sept. 22; Belgium's Mats Maggi and Finland's Osku Palermaa crack the top 8 on last qualifying day; cut for 30th place is 1269 (211.50 average)

ImageMika Koivuniemi (pictured) of Finland held on to the lead on the last qualifying day in the European Bowling Tour's Chandra Open 2013 en route to lead a field of 40 players into the finals on Sunday, Sept. 22, at Chandra Bowling in Nieuwegein, Netherlands. The 11-time PBA Tour champion and 7-time EBT titlist led the field of 125 players from 13 countries with 1467 six-game total. Mats Maggi of Belgium and Finland's Osku Palermaa were the only players in Saturday's Squads 11-13, who cracked the top 8 to receive a first-round bye.

Mika Koivuniemi takes over pole position in qualifying at Chandra Open 2013

PBA star rolls 1467 series to lead the field of 109 players into the final qualifying day; four Englishmen crack the top 10; cut for 30th place is now 1245 (207.50 average)

The native Finn, who lives in Hartland, Mich., rolled high games of 279 and 269 and four games between 223 and 238 to lead a field of 109 players from 12 countries heading into the final qualifying day. Koivuniemi, who owns 11 PBA Tour titles and seven European Bowling Tour titles, overtook previous leader Jimmy Ravez of Belgium by 38 pins.

Van de Wakker used a high game of 269, three 240s and a pair of 194 games to improve his previous high series (1264) by 126 pins to leap from 12th to second place in the overall qualifying standings with 1390 total. Jimmy Ravez of Belgium leads the field of 86 players from seven countries since the first qualifying squad with 1429 and an average of 238.17.

Jacobs posted a 1322 series, an average of 220.33, including games of 188, 236, 203, 204, 243 and 248 and is the best Dutch bowler in the field of 62 players from four countries so far. Jimmy Ravez and Olivier Leroy of Belgium remained atop the leaderboard with 1429 and 1372, respectively.

Long-time Belgian national team member Jimmy Ravez (l.) posted a big 1429 series in the very first squad to take the early lead in the European Bowling Tour Satellite event. His compatriots Olivier Leroy (r.) and Michael Coussens led the second qualifying squad with 1372 and 1315 and moved into second and third place.

Maria Bulanova defeats Mykhaylo Kalika to win RedExpress Russian Open

14-year-old Russian becomes the youngest player ever to win a European Bowling Tour title

The 14-year-old Russian youth national team member (pictured left with her coach Sergey Starchenkov) is the youngest player ever to win a European Bowling Tour title. Bulanova is just the second Russian EBT champion after Ivan Semenov in 2010. She earned the 5.500 Euro for accomplishing the feat.

Ukrainian leads the top 36 players into the finals on Saturday; no changes atop the leaderboard on Friday; cut for 32nd place is 1240 (206.67 average)

Kalika, who won the penultimate qualifying squad 11 on Friday with 1279, led the field of 152 players from eight Eastern European countries since squad 5 with 1394 and an average of 232.33. The top 32 qualifiiers will be joined in the finals by the top 4 of the Desperado Squad. The top 8 qualifiers received a first-round bye.

Kalika came out of the gates quickly with back-to-back to 250s (258 & 257), slowed down the next two (202 & 158) but finished strong with 253 and 266 to lead the field of 106 players from five countries, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Ukraine and Russia.

Maksim Okorokov set the pace with 1330 and an average of 221.67. Okorov rolled games of 199, 235, 200, 227, 224 and 245 to beat out Daria Voronkova for the top spot by ten pins. Qualifying continues Wednesday, September 11, with squads 3 and 4 scheduled to start at noon and 4 p.m. Moscow Standard Time (CEST +2).

Glasl, who led the tournament after the first squad with 1392, followed a 213 opening game in the penultimate Squad 17 with twelve consecutive strikes for the lone 300 game of the tournament so far. Glasl closed out the series with 210, 241, 266 and 245, an average of 245.83 for six games.

Kovalova, a multiple national champion and winner of the 2012 European Champions Cup, averaged 226 scratch including games of 207, 159, 245, 243, 269 and 233 for 1356 and added 48 pins women's handicap to become the first player this year to crack the 1400-bar.
