PBA champion shoots 1397 series in Thursday's Squad 17; cut for 38th place is now 1144 (190.67 ave.)

Williams had games averaged  232.83, to overtake previous leader Pasi Uotila, Finland, by 19 pins. Two-time European champion Joline Persson-Planefors (r.) of Sweden was second to Williams in Squad 17 with 13125 including handicap to jump into fourth place.

Pasi Uotila takes over lead in Brunswick Madrid Challenge in Spain

Finn rolls 1378 series in Wednesday's qualifying squad 13; Jenny Wegner (SWE) become first women to crack the 1300-bar; cut for 38th place still low at 1105 (184.17 average)

2013EBT04PasiUotila_small.jpgLong-time Finnish national team member Pasi Uotila (pictured) of Finland averaged almost 230 in Wednesday's Squad 13 en route to take the pole position in the qualifying of the 1st Brunswick Madrid Challenge at Bowling ChamartĂ­n. The four-time European Bowling Tour titlist had games of 232, 236, 223, 236, 246 and 205 for 1378, an average of 229.67, to overtake previous leader Pablo Barriopedro of Spain by 30 pins. Barriopedro, who led the tournament since Squad 6, slipped to second place with 1348.

Ruiz averaged 220.33 in Squad 12 for a 1322 series including games of 236, 230, 194, 247, 222 and 193. Pablo Barriopedro (r.) of Spain remained atop the 70-player leaderboard with 1348 total (224.67 avg.).

Morig started the day with a 1231 in Squad 9 but Jimenez rolled a 1269 series in Squad 10 to beat out Morig for second place overall by 38 pins. Pablo Barriopedro of Spain continued to lead field of 55 players with 1348 total and an average of 224.67.

Spaniards Barriopedro, Rodriguez, Orche and Ballesteros qualify for Sunday's finals

2013EBT08PabloBarriopedro_small.jpgPablo Barriopedro (pictured) of Spain averaged 224.67 Sunday afternoon Bowling ChamartĂ­n in Madrid, Spain to take a dominating 138-pin lead in the 1st Brunswick Madrid Challenge. Barriopedro had games of 221, 236, 223, 188, 237 and 243 to move to the top of the leaderboard with 1348 total. Spanish bowlers occupied the top four places and earned automatic spots in finals on Sunday, June 30, if they finish qualifying below the cut line (top 38).

Paco Rodriguez tops opening day at 1st Brunswick Madrid Challenge

2012EBT04PacoRodriguez_small.jpgPaco Rodriguez (pictured) of Spain averaged 201.67 and posted a 1210 six-game total to take the lead in the 1st Brunswick Madrid Challenge after day one qualifying at Bowling ChamartĂ­n in Madrid, Spain. The tournament co-organizer had games of 254, 157, 186, 184, 215 and 214 in Squad 3 (1, 2 and 4 were cancelled) to beat out Ruben Orche, Spain, for the top spot by three pins. Orche, who started his series with a 259 game, the high game of the tournament so far, was in second place with 1207.

Norwegian Open 2013 by Brunswick: Online Registration opens Tuesday, June 4th

Bowlingdigital.com will provide Live Coverage from Veitvet Bowling Center in Oslo Oct. 11-13; prize fund increases to nearly 30.000 Euro; cashers increase from 40 to 60 players

2013NorwegianOpenLogo_small.jpgOnline registration for the Norwegian Open 2013 by Brunswick, an EBT "Satellite" event, is now open. The tournament will be held from Oct. 4-13 at Veitvet Bowling Center in Oslo. As a result of a sponsorship agreement with Brunswick, the NO 2013 has increased the total prize fund to 224.000 NOK (currently 29.425 Euro). Other than in 2012, 60 instead of 40 players will cash. Bowlingdigital.com will provide Live Coverage commencing Thursday Oct. 10 all the way through to the finals.

Mik Stampe of Denmark wins Odense International by a whisker

2011 winner ties compatriot Thomas Larsen after 17 games to win his second EBT title by higher last game

2013EBT07Top3_small.jpgAfter 17 games in the finals of the Odense International, Danish national team members Mik Stampe (c.) and Thomas Larsen (l.) were deadlocked at 4056 pins including match play bonus. Stampe repeated as champion for the second time after 2011 by virtue of the higher last game (246 to 212) to win the title and the 4.000 Euro first prize. Frederik Øhrgaard (r.) was mere 30 pins behind in third place. Fourth-place Kamilla Kjeldsen won the women's ranking.

Swedish bowlers dominated the last qualifying day. Total five players cracked the top 10 led by Squad 15 leader Peter Hellström (r.), who toppled 1413 pins including a pair of 265 games to rocket into second place.

Hansen was the best of only nine players, four in Squad 10 and five in Squad 11, with 1284 (214 average) to move into 14th place. Thomas Larsen (pictured), continued to lead the field of 62 players from Denmark, Sweden and Germany with a six-game average of 240.33 and 1442 total.

Larsen (l.) posted a 1442 series to overtake the qualifying lead while Stampe (r.) finished his six-game series with the tournament's first 300 game for 1370 (228.33) en route to jump into third place.

The two-time European Bowling Tour women's point ranking leader and three-time EBT Masters winner had games of 201, 257, 237, 222, 182 and 231 for 1330 scratch, an average of 221.67, and added eight pins handicap per game to beat out day one leader Frederik Øhrgaard, Denmark, for the top spot by 27 pins.

Øhrgaard, who had games of 226, 208, 197, 245, 239 and 236, second place Ida Andersson of Sweden (1336) have already secured their spots for the Sunday, June 2, finals.

2013EBT04BjonEinarRudshagen_small.jpgNorwegian national team member Björn Einar Rudshagen (pictured) averaged 232.60 over ten games en route to claim his first European Bowling Tour title in the Bowltech Aalborg International 2013 Sunday at Lovvang Bowling Center in Aalborg, Denmark. The European champion and multiple Norwegian champion became the fourth Norwegian EBT champion in the 14-year history of the Tour after Tore Torgersen (3), Petter Hansen (2) and Svein Roger Olsen (1). He pocketed 5.000 Euro for accomplishing the feat.

Victory marks the 14th consecutive European Bowling Tour season in which a woman wins an EBT title; Persson Planefors overtakes lead in 2013 Women's Point Ranking; third-place Pasi Uotila wins men's ranking in Berlin to leap into second place in the 2013 Men's Point Ranking

The Swede won the final two-game total pins round, 488 to 412, to win her first European Bowling Tour title and the 7.000 Euro top prize. Kabowski (r.) received 4.000 Euro for second place. Third-place Pasi Uotila of Finland won the men's ranking in Berlin.
