USBC National Recognition Awards announced

Vicki Bowman of Gladstone, Mo., Madeline Dotta of Washington, Ill., and Michael Nyitray of Parkland, Fla., have been selected to receive 2013 USBC Recognition Awards. Bowman was selected as USBC Proprietor of the Year, Dotta was named the Helen Baker Outstanding Association Service Award winner, and Nyitray is the Joyce Deitch Unity Award winner. The winners will be formally recognized during the 2013 USBC Convention in Reno, Nev.

2012EBT16JennyWegner_small.jpg All four leaders of Friday's squads 11-14 cracked the 1300-bar to move to the top of the 97-player leaderboard in the qualifying of the 7th International Wroclaw Open by Hammer currently underway at Galeria Rozrywki Miraz in Wroclaw, Poland. Jenny Wegner (pictured left) of Sweden took over the pole position with 1355 six-game total including 48 pins handicap. Wegner became the first woman to lead a squad when she rolled games of 245, 187, 213, 224, 256 and 182 in Squad 13 for 1307, an average of 217.83 scratch.

Emil Polanisz misses first 1300 series at Wroclaw Open by mere one pin

The local bowler leads field of 60 players after 10 of 18 qualifying squads with 1299; cut for 40th place is 1122 (187 average)

Emil Polanisz (pictured) of Poland led the eight qualifying squad Thursday at Galeria Rozrywki Miraz, a 10-laner in Wroclaw, Poland, with 1299 total to lead the qualifying of the 7th International Wroclaw Open by Hammer after 10 of 18 squads. Polanisz alternated three 190 games with high games of 227, 257 and 227 to overtake Falco Gutsche of Germany by seven pins. Gutsche slipped to second place with 1292. Qualifying continues Friday, February 15, with Squad 11-14.

Falco Gutsche, Niko Kurppa take over lead in Poland after six qualifying squads

2011IWOLogo_small.jpg Falco Gutsche of Germany and Finn Niko Kurppa led the fifth and sixth qualifying squad Wednesday at bowling center Galeria Rozrywki Miraz in Wroclaw, Poland en route to overtake the lead in the qualifying of the 7th International Wroclaw Open by Hammer. Gutsche roller coasted his way into the lead with games of 235, 170, 249, 162, 231 and 245 leading Squad 5 with 1292 total and an average of 215.33 over six games. Qualifying continues Thursday, February 14, with Squad 7-10.

Adam BŇāaszczak of Poland dominated the second qualifying day at 10-lane Galeria Rozrywki Miraz in Wroclaw, Poland en route to move into third place in the overall qualifying standings in the 7th International Wroclaw Open by Hammer. BŇāaszczak led Squad 4 with 1199 six-game total or an average of 199.83. Squad 2 leaders Jacek Skorupa and Patryk Preus continued to lead the European Bowling Tour event with 1223 (203.83) and 1205 (200.83), respectively.

European Bowling Tour "Satellite" tournament runs Feb. 11-17 at bowling center Galeria Rozrywki Miraz in Wroclaw, Poland

2011IWOLogo_small.jpg Just eight bowlers, seven from Poland and Kazakh Alexandr Panchenko, took to the ten lanes at bowling center Galeria Rozrywki Miraz Monday to get the 7th International Wroclaw Open by Hammer started in Wroclaw, Poland. Squad 2 leaders Jacek Skorupa and Patryk Preus were the only players who surpassed the 1200-mark to take the early lead in the tournament with 1223 and 1205. ŇĀukasz Zjawiony, who led Squad 1, was in third place 1172.

Monday European Bowling Tour "Satellite" tournament runs Feb. 11-17 at bowling center Galeria Rozrywki Miraz in Wroclaw, Poland

The 7th International Wroclaw Open by Hammer is the third stop of the 2013 European Bowling Tour and the first of seven EBT "Satellite" events this season. The tournament will be held from Monday, Feb. 11 through Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 at bowling center Galeria Rozrywki Miraz, a 10-laner in Wroclaw, Poland. As in the past two years, participants in the IWO will compete for total prize money of 26.000 Euro with 4.250 Euro going to the winner.

Thomas Larsen wins his third EBT title in Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament

Birgit Pöppler of Germany wins Women's Ranking in Tilburg

The four survivors after three eliminator rounds, in which the players with the lowest two-game totals were eliminated, battled it out for the title and the 8.000 Euro first prize. Birgit Pöppler, Germany, finished in fifth place to win the women's ranking.

Hansen, who toppled 1494 pins, earned a 1.000 Euro bonus, 500 for leading Squad 6 and another 500 for winning the qualifying. The top six also received one bye for the finals.

The lefty, who led the European Bowling Tour men's ranking in the Tour's first four years (2000-2003) used games of 267, 228, 203, 212, 234 and 233 for 1377 series. The Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2013 is the second stop of the 2013 European Bowling Tour and the first of five EBT "Silver" tournaments this season. The tournament will be held from Sunday Feb. 3 through Sunday Feb. 10, 2013 at Dolfijn Bowling Tilburg, a 20-laner in Tilburg, Netherlands. Players will compete for total prize money of 51.500 Euro with 8.000 Euro going to the winner, 5.000 to the runner-up and 3.000 and 2.000 to third and fourth place finishers, respectively.

European Youth Champion from Sweden defeats three-time Ballmaster champion Pasi Uotila to become the youngest Ballmaster winner the youngest player ever to win an EBT title

Svensson, who won the gold medal in Masters at the 2012 European Youth Championships, became the youngest player ever to win an EBT title and is also the youngest Ballmaster champion in the 43-year history of the prestigious event.
