Tolga ÅžiÅŸmanoÄŸullar (Turkey), Myria Kastori (Cyprus) emerge as Masters Champions

2013MCCMastersMen_small.jpg2013MCCMastersWomen_small.jpgTolga ÅžiÅŸmanoÄŸullar and Myria Kastori won the first gold medal for Turkey and Cyprus in the 16th Mediterranean Challenge Cup when the No. 5 seeds emerged as Masters champion in Ljubljana, Slovenia. In the title matches, ÅžiÅŸmanoÄŸullar defeated Ioannis Maroussis, Greece, 417-363, and Kastori took down Fausta Regali, Italy, 428-349.

Italy cruises to the Team title at Mediterranean Challenge Cup

Slovenia's Anže Grabrijan and Malta's Sue Abela crowned All Events champions

2013MCCTeamPodium_small.jpgItaly with Francesco Bellomonte, Fausta Regali, Helga Di Benedetto and Maurizio Celli captured the coveted gold medal in the four-player Mixed Team event in the 16th Mediterranean Challenge Cup Saturday at Bowling Klub 300 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.  Anže Grabrijan won the first-ever gold medal for Slovenia in Men's All Events with 5183 total. Sue Abela of Malta, who has medaled in all 16 MCCs, took the gold medal in Women's All Events with 4799.

Greece adds name to MCC medal tally with victory in Mixed Doubles

Slovenia's Anže Grabrijan and Italy's Helga Di Benedetto move to the top in All Events after 18 of 24 games

2013MCCMixedDoublesTop3_small.jpgAlexandra Zormpa and Ioannis Maroussis (c.) won the first gold medal for Greece in the 16th Mediterranean Challenge Cup Friday at Bowling Klub 300 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, when the duo emerged as Mixed Doubles champion. Maroussis led the team with 1316 and Zormpa added 1181 for 2497 total to beat out Maja Debenec and Anže Grabrijan (l.) from the host country Slovenia for the title by mere two pins. Sue Abela and Justin C. Scicluna (r.) of Malta took bronze with 2484.

Malta and France win the Doubles titles at Mediterranean Challenge Cup

Turkey's Özoğluuntur, Italy's Bellomonte lead in All Events after 12 of 24 games

Malta's Sue Abela and Tiziana Carannante (l.) took to the women's title with 2412 total and an average of 201. On the men's side, Julien Sermand and Nicolas Marchand (r.) of France claimed the gold medal with 2549 (212.42).

Di Benedetto, Scicluna start 16th Mediterranean Challenge Cup with victory in Singles

2013MCCHelgaDiBenedetto_small.jpg2013MCCJustinScicluna_small.jpgHelga Di Benedetto (l.) of Italy and Malta's Justin Scicluna (r.) earned the gold medals in Singles, the opening event of the 16th Mediterranean Challenge Cup currently underway in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Di Benedetto toppled 1217 pins and averaged of 202.83 for six games to win the women's title. Scicluna closed out his 1337 series with a huge 279 game to beat out Slovenia's Anže Grabrijan for the title by seven pins.
