Europe romp to Weber glory

2016WeberCupChampionEurope_small.jpg Europe has retained the partypoker Weber Cup as they took the required point for victory in front of a jubilant crowd Sunday evening at EventCity in Manchester, England. It was the European's fourth consecutive victory – a record for the event. Captain Dominic Barrett was the man who delivered the killer blow as he defeated America's Wes Malott in a close fought match, 242-221. Established in 2000, the Weber Cup is the tenpin bowling version of golf's Ryder Cup.

Europe one point away from victory at Weber Cup

2016WeberCupJesperSvensson_small2.jpg Europe stand on the brink of yet another partypoker Weber Cup win as they took the fourth session five matches to two to leave themselves within one point of victory. 21 year-old Swede Jesper Svensson (pictured) was the star of the show as he came through his four matches with four wins to set Europe on the road. Making his debut, Svensson is on course for top points scorer honors. With his unorthodox approach and two-handed delivery, he has looked unbeatable as he settled into the event.

Europe restore their big lead as US falter

2016WeberCupTeamEurope_small.jpgTeam Europe (pictured) restored their five point lead at the 2016 partypoker Weber Cup as they claimed the Saturday evening session 4-3 to increase the overall score to 13-8 at EventCity in Manchester, England. After the USA took the opening Baker, Europe reeled off three straight wins before the Americans rallied with two wins. The evening culminated in the captain's pick where the American choice of Martin Larsen delivered the highest score of the tournament thus far.

USA pegs it back with much needed session win

2016WeberCupParkerBohnIII_small.jpgThe Americans took the Saturday afternoon session of the 17th partypoker Weber Cup at EventCity in Manchester, England, by a 4-3 margin and it was a much needed return to form which reduced the Europeans overall lead to four points with the tally now standing at 9-5. Captain Parker Bohn III (pictured), Wes Malott, Kyle Troup and Marshall Kent selected a much longer 45 foot lane pattern and it seemed to work for them although it was hard earned at every corner.

Europe opens Weber Cup with huge lead

2016WeberCupDominicBarrett_small.jpgTeam Europe, lead by captain Dominic Barrett of England, got off to a superb start at the partypoker Weber Cup as they won the opening session, 6-1, to take a five-point lead going into Saturday's play at EventCity, Manchester, England. It was the perfect start to their defence of the title. The tournament, entering its 17th season, has adopted the 'World Scoring' system whereby the bowler receives 30 points for a strike, ten points plus the number of outstanding pins for a spare, and the number of felled pins in an open frame.

Nicki Ainge named referee for Weber Cup XVII

2016WeberCupRefereeNickiAinge_small.jpgWith the 2016 Weber Cup set to get underway this evening at 18.30 organizer Matchroom Sport has announced that former European Championship bowler, Nicki Ainge, will be the referee in charge of the action at EventCity in Manchester, England. Ainge (pictured), 28 and from Leeds has competed Junior, U24 and Adult level for both Yorkshire and Team England and has won numerous medals throughout the years at Triple Crown and European Championships as well as the Bowling Commonwealth Championships.

Weber Cup XVII set for ESPN3 coverage

Starting at 1.30pm EST on this Friday, August 5, the Weber Cup is the annual Europe vs. USA tenpin showdown taking place at EventCity, Manchester. The American team is looking for their first win in three years. The ultimate champions will be the team that reaches 19 points first. Play runs from Friday concluding in an exciting climax on Sunday evening, August 7.

Weber Cup XVII to go to World Bowling Scoring System

2016PartyPokerWeberCupVIILogo_small.jpg For the first time in its 17 year history, the PartyPoker Weber Cup will be using the World Bowling Scoring System when Europe and USA meet Agust 5-7 at Eventcity in Manchester, England. The Weber Cup is the tenpin bowling version of golf's Ryder Cup as two four-man teams from Europe and the USA compete over three days in a series of singles, doubles and baker format matches. The tournament will be broadcast live on Sky Sports as well as other channels around the world.

Yifat Tal, Or Aviram win 2016 Israeli National Championships

2016IsraelNCYifatTalOrAviram_small.jpgYifat Tal of Petach-Tikva club and Or Aviram of Haifa club won the women's and men's Israeli National Individual Championships which were held at "Bola" bowling center in Holon. It was the third title for Tal and the fourth for Aviram. 38 players participated in the 27th running of the event. The champions will represent Israel at the 2016 European Champions Cup October 24-31 at Bowland Bowling Center in Olomouc, Czech Republic.

Oliver Morig captures title at 39th Grand Prix Zurich

2016GPZurichOliverMorig_small.jpgOliver Morig of Germany averaged 234.43 for seven games to capture the title in the 39th Grand Prix Zurich Sunday at bowling center BESECO in Winterthur, Switzerland. Morig took home the 1.100 Swiss Franc top prize. The handicap tournament was dominated by German scratch bowlers, who took the first four places in the 2016 event. Morig rolled games of 217, 270, 256, 196, 202, 256 and 244 in the final round, which featured a special position point system format, to finish with 1641 pinfall total.

Pedersen averaged almost 225 for 29 games to improve on a third-place finish in singles last year and joined forces with Mads Sandbækken for a come-from-behind victory in doubles at their home center. Both players entered the finals as the No. 2 seeds. Jacobs defeated top-seeded Yorick van Deutekom, 257-186, to win the men's title, two-games-to-one. On the women's side, Breeschoten swept top-seeded Nicole Sanders, 2-0, to seal the victory.

The 20-laner known was the host center of the European Bowling Tour's Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament. According to Luc Jansen, who did a wonderful job of running a first-class event with his staff, the fire started last night around 11 p.m. behind lanes 11 and 12. Within minutes the fire spread around the bowling center (pictured).

Each stage of the QubicaAMF BPC Tour, which featured men's and women's Team, Doubles, Singles and Masters competition, will air on French television networks and on the internet free of charge.

Morgan pocketed the 7.000 Euro top prize, while Chamberlainwas consoled with 5.000 Euro for second place. In the all-Swedish opening match, Jenny Wegner flew Mattias Olsson, 286-225. Morgan then ousted Wegner in the semi-final, 245-198.
