Birgit Pöppler, Tom van der Vliet claim the titles in 37th European Champions Cup

2014ECCBirgitPopplerTomvanderVliet_small.jpgBirgit Pöppler (l.) of Germany and Dutchman Tom van der Vliet (r.) remained undefeated in the single-elimination finals in the 37th European Champions Cup to claim the women's and men's titles Saturday at Keiluhollin, Egilsholl bowling center in Reykjavik, Iceland. In the women's title match, Pöppler flew past Andrea Hansen of Norway, 190-139 and 266-169 to seal the victory, 2-0. Van der Vliet won the men's finale against Mattias Wetterberg in the decider, 213-200.

Jenny Wegner, Mads Sandbækken average over 230 to earn the No. 1 seed for the ECC Finals

2014ECCJennyWegner_small.jpgMads Sandbækken (l.) of Norway and Jenny Wegner (r.) of Swedenaveraged over 230 in Round Three en route to earn the No. 1 seed for the men's and women's single-elimination finals in the 37th European Champions Cup Friday at Keiluhollin, Egilsholl bowling center in Reykjavik, Iceland. Sandbækken led the men's field with 5283 total and an overall average of 220.13 for 24 games, while Wegner paced the women with 5360 (223.33).

Paul Stott wins second consecutive round to widen his lead in European Champions Cup

Birgit Pöppler finishes strong to maintain her lead in the women's division

Stott won the second consecutive round to widen his lead in the men's division to 162 pins, while Pöppler finished second today to lead the women's field by 113 pins haeding into the last round.

Birgit Pöppler, Paul Stott claim first round lead in 37th European Champions Cup

2014ECCBirgitPoppler_small.jpg2014ECCPaulStott_small.jpgBirgit Pöppler (pictured left) of Germany and Paul Stott of Ireland claimed the first round lead in the 37th European Champions Cup which got underway on Wednesday with the first of three eight-game blocks at Keiluhollin, Egilsholl bowling center in Reykjavik, Iceland. Pöppler had the highest series of both, men and women, with 1858, an average of 232.25. Stott (r.) paced the men's field with 1820 total (227.50).
