Chris Sloan in the title match of the
28th Irish Open Championships, 495-414, to win his third Irish Open title and his 17th career title Sunday in Dublin, Ireland. Moor received 5.000 Euro for the win, while Sloan, who was targeting his first career EBT title, pocketed 2.500 Euro.
Amanda Larkin, Ireland, was the best woman in fifth place, and
Tom Byrne, Ireland, edged Swede
Bengt-Ã…ke Bengtsson, 404-403, for the senior title.
Marawan Aernoudt (pictured) of Belgium averaged 238 Tuesday evening at Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg, Netherlands, to take the pole position in the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2016 after the fourth of 14 qualifying squads. Aernoudt had games of 267, 236, 245, 191, 246 and 243 for 1428 total to overtake his compatriot Jimmy Ravez by 23 pins. Ravez, who led qualifying since squad 2 with 1405, slipped to second place and was followed by Bianca Wiekeraad, who is the best of 13 women in the 87-player field with 1381.
Using a hammer bowling ball, Youri Fens (pictured), a 19-year-old local bowler, fired 24 consecutive strikes to close out the third qualifying squad of the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2016 with back-to-back 300 games Monday evening at Dolfijn Bowling Tilburg in Tilburg, Netherlands. Fens finished with 1375, an average of 229.17, to leap into third place in the overall qualifying standings. Jimmy Ravez of Belgian continued to
lead after 3 of 14 squads with 1405 total.
Bowlers from Belgium dominated the opening day of the European Bowling Tour's Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2016 Sunday at Dolfijn Bowling Tilburg in Tilburg, Netherlands. Jimmy Ravez (l.) averaged 234.17 in the second squad to lead a field of 49 players from Belgium, France and Netherlands with 1405. Trailing Ravez by 42 pins to sit in second place was Johnny Fronville (r.) with 1363.
The Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2016 is the third event of the 2016 European Bowling Tour and the first of four "EBT Silver" events this season, the third highest of the four EBT categories. The HBST will be held from Sunday, January 31 through Sunday, February 7, at 20-lane Dolfijn Bowling Tilburg in Tilburg, Netherlands. Players will compete for total prize money of 41.000 Euro with 5.000 Euro going to the winner. Low to cash is 40th place (500 Euro).
35-time PBA champion Parker Bohn III, United States, defeated Kimmo Lehtonen, Finland, 213-190, to win his second career European Bowling Tour and 13.000 Euro in the 46th Brunswick Ballmaster Open Sunday at Tali Bowling Center in Helsinki, Finland. Bohn ousted Jaroslav Lorenc, Czech Republic, in the semifinal match, 241-218, for the right to bowl Lehtonen for the title. Lorenc eliminated women's ranking winner Laura Beuthner, Germany, in the opening match, 226-198.
Richard Teece (pictured) of England averaged 241.33 for six games in the last squad (#18) Saturday evening at Tali Bowling Center in Helsinki, Finland, to win the qualifying of the 46th Brunswick Ballmaster Open with 1448 pinfall total. Teece, who had games of 248, 227, 242, 225, 289 and 217, led the top 54 out of 528 players from 18 countries into the first round of the finals. The top 44 from the overall qualifying standings will be joined by six players from the early squads and the top 4 of the Desperado Squad. 
Jaroslav Lorenc of the Czech Republic averaged 238.83 in Friday's squad 14 to take the pole position in the qualifying of the 46th Brunswick Ballmaster Open and leads the 514-player field into the last qualifying day at Tali Bowling Center in Helsinki, Finland. Lorenc started his six-game block with games of 255, 206, 180 and 235 before he closed out with 288 and 269 for 1433 to overtake previous leader Kai Virtanen of Finland by just one pin. Jesse Kallio of Finland currently holds 44th and last place to advance with 1305 (217.50).
Foreign bowlers dominated the sixth qualifying day of the 46th Brunswick Ballmaster Open at Tali Bowling Center in Helsinki, Finland. World Youth Doubles champions Pontus Andersson (l.) and Markus Jansson from Sweden and PBA legend Parker Bohn III, United States, cracked the top 10 in the 12th squad on Thursday evening. Kai Virtanen (r.) of Finland continued to lead the field of 473 bowlers from 14 countries with 1432 and an average of 238.67.
Kai Virtanen (l.) and Ville Rajala of Finland moved to the top of the leaderboard in the 46th Brunswick Ballmaster Open Wednesday at Tali Bowling Center in Helsinki, Finland. Ballmaster Open organizer Virtanen closed squad 10 with a huge 288 game for 1432, an average of 238.67 for six games. Rajala (r.), a two-hander lefty, stayed consistently close to his 233.17 average in squad 9 to finish the day in second place with 1399.
Two-time Ballmaster Open champion Kimmo Lehtonen (pictured) averaged over 220 in the second squad on Sunday, eighth overall, to leap into 12th place in the 46th Brunswick Ballmaster Open currently underway at Tali Bowling Center in Helsinki, Finland. The southpaw, who won the most prestigious tournament in Finland in the years 2002 and 2007, started squad 8 with games of 279, 232 and 246 (757) and finished with 177, 211 and 180 for 1325 and an average of 220.83.
Finnish youth national team member Tomas Käyhkö (pictured) paced the first qualifying day in the year 2016 at Tali Bowling Center in Helsinki, Finland, en route to jump into fourth place in the overall standings in the 46th Brunswick Ballmaster Open. Käyhkö led the first qualifying squad on Saturday (fifth overall) behind games of 187, 260, 200, 233, 279 and 216, an average of 229.17, to improve on a 1264 series and to leap from 22nd to fourth place with 1375. Juhani Tonteri continued to lead the field of 286 players with 1396 (232.67).
Juhani Tonteri (pictured) rolled games of 268, 220, 195, 220, 270 and 223 to nip Pasi Uotila by two pins, 1396 to 1394, and to take the lead in the 46th Brunswick Ballmaster Open as 176 players have completed at least one six-game series Wednesday at Tali Bowling Center in Helsinki, Finland. With just 4 of 18 squads in the books, the field consists of 174 Finnish bowlers, German-Finnish Patricia Luoto (40th, 1202) and Russia's Alexander Medveditskov (93rd, 1101). Qualifying commences on Saturday, January 2,
with squads 5 and 6.
Three-time Ballmaster Open champion Pasi Uotila (pictured) from Finland finished his qualifying series with three consecutive games over 250 to take the early lead in the 46th Brunswick Ballmaster Open Tuesday at Tali Bowling Center in Helsinki, Finland. Uotila, who won the prestigious tournament in 2000, 2004 and 2009 and is one of just five multiple winners, led the 113-player field from Finland, Germany and Russia after day one qualifying with 1394 total and an average of 232.33.
Since its inception in the year 2000, the European Bowling Tour kicks off with Brunswick Ballmaster Open in Helsinki, Finland. The 46th edition of Europe's most prestigious bowling tournament will kick off the 17th EBT season from Tuesday, December 29, 2015 through Sunday January 10, 2016 at 36-lane Tali Bowling Center. The BBO is the first of three "EBT Platinum" events this season and offers total prize money of 103.300 Euro. Squads 1 & 2 are slated for 3 and 7 p.m. EET.
The European Bowling Tour has announced that three tournaments, San Marino Open, Dream-Bowl Palace Open and Polish Open have changed the dates for the 2016 season. Also, the Russian Open has withdrawn from the Tour. Heading into the 17th season since the inception in the year 2000 the EBT will consist of 17 tournaments in 12 countries including three "Platinum" events as well as four "Gold", four "Silver" and 6 "Satellite" events, offering total prize fund of roughly 910.000 Euro.
