Kyu Hwan defeated Lee Ik Kyu, 426-385, to win the boys' gold medal.

The girls and boys from South Korea dominated the Masters round robin match play at the 17th Asian Youth Championships and will have two out of three players in Saturday's stepladder finals. South Korea's Choi Ae Rim and Chong Jun Foo (pictured left, r-l) of Malaysia started the 17th Asian Youth Championships with victory in the girls and boys Singles event Tuesday at SCAA Bowling Center in Hong Kong, China. Ae Rim rolled a 1246 series on the 36-feet long pattern, an average of 207.67, to finish atop the 48-player leaderboard and to capture the gold medal in the girls division. Jun Foo led the 81-player boys division with the field-best 1361 total and an average of 226.83.

The 17th Asian Youth Championships in Hong Kong drew record 129 players, 81 boys and 48 girls, from 21 countries of the Asian Bowling Federation, who will compete from Tuesday thru Saturday at 40-lane SCAA Bowling Center inside the SCAA sports complex at Causeway Bay. Up to four boys and four girls per country who must not be born before January 1, 1993, will bowl in separate divisions for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, four-player Teams, All-Events and Masters.

Today the Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress has released the final Bulletin No. 3 for the 17th Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships, which will be held from September 7-14, 2013 at South China Athletic Association Bowling Center. The 60-laner with 40 lanes suitable for international events and another 20 lanes is located inside the SCAA sports complex at Causeway Bay in Hong Kong, China. As of today, 21 ABF member federations have registered for the event.
