PABCON and Kegel seminar held in conjunction with PABCON Women Championship

KegelLogo_small.jpg PABCONLogo.jpg In conjunction with the Pan American Women Championship at Happyland Bowling Center in Santiago de Chile, the Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) and Kegel continued their activities to educate bowlers and coaches as they held another seminar called Seminario Avanzado "Lectura de Pistas" or "Walk This Way" (Lane Maintenance). The seminar was held by Kegel VP Del Warren and Kegel technician Mike Purdy.

Kulick ends PABCON Women's Championship with victory in Masters

2008PCWMastersKellyKulick_small.jpg 2008PCWMastersSandraGongora_small.jpg Kelly Kulick (l.), United States, defeated team mate Liz Johnson, two-games -to-one en route to en the Pan American Women Championship in Santiago de Chile with victory in the prestigious Masters event. Johnson won the first game in best of two-of-three game format, 255-220, but Kulick rebounded with two straight wins, 236-220 and 227-219, to win the gld medal. In the semifinals, Kulick overcame an opening game loss to Mexico's Sandra Gongora (r.), Mexico, to win 2-1, while Johnson swept compatriot Diandra Asbaty, 2-0. Gongora and Asbaty shared the bronze medal.

United States wins gold medal in PABCON Team event

Kulick, Dorin-Ballard, Johnson sweep medals in All Events

2008PCWTeamUSA_small.jpg Entering the 2008 Pan American Bowling Confederation Women's Championships, Team USA (pictured) put a premium on winning a single gold medal - team event. On Thursday, the Americans accomplished that task, claiming the top spot in five-player team. Team USA shot 6,357 to win the gold medal by 92 pins over Colombia's 6,265. Puerto Rico took the bronze medal with 6,026. Kelly Kulick earned the gold medal in All Events, totaling 5,463 for 24 games, an average of 227.63, while Carolyn Dorin-Ballard earned silver with 5,377 and Liz Johnson took bronze with 5,332.

Kulick shoots 300 as Team USA wins PABCON Trios gold and silver

2008PCWJohnsonDorinBallardBarnes_small.jpg 2008PCWMacphersonKulickAsbaty_small.jpg With three textbook strikes in the 10th frame, Kelly Kulick (left, center) shot 300 in Game 4 and helped lead her teammates Diandra Asbaty and Wendy Macpherson to the gold medal in Trios at the PABCON Women's Championships with 4037.  Their team mates Liz Johnson, Carolyn Dorin-Ballard and Lynda Barnes (r.) took silver with 3906. Mexico's Sandra Gongora, Lilia Robles and Adriana Perez took the bronze medal with 3837. Competition continues Thursday with the  five-player team event.

Macpherson, Kulick win PABCON Doubles gold

2008PCWRyanCiachPark_small.jpg 2008PCWMacphersonKulick_small.jpg A slight adjustment paid dividends for Team USA's Wendy Macpherson (l.), as her big doubles total led to a gold medal Tuesday with Kelly Kulick (r.) at the 2008 PABCON Women's Championships in Santiago de Chile. Macpherson and Kulick fired 2602 and topped teammates Liz Johnson and Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, who earned silver with 2565. Canada's Jennifer Park and Kerrie Ryan-Ciach (on the right, r-l) took the bronze medal with 2,556. Action shifts to the Trios event on Wednesday.

Gold (Johnson), Silver (Dorin-Ballard) and Bronze (Barnes) for Team USA in PABCON Women's Singles

2008PCWLizJohnson_small.jpg Team USA started the Pan American Women Championship Monday at Happyland Bowling Center in Santiago de Chile by sweeping the medals in the Singles competition. Liz Johnson (pictured), who set the pace in the first of three squads in the 16-laner, took the gold medal with 1482 for six games, an average of 247.00. Carolyn Dorin-Ballard won the silver medal with 1449, while Lynda Barnes earned the bronze with 1448. Action next shifts to the Doubles event on Tuesday. The 2008 PABCON Women's Championships features 77 players from 16 countries of the American Zone competing in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team, All Events and Masters.

First PABCON Women Championships to be held in Chile

2008PCWomenLogo_small.jpg The first Pan American Bowling Confederation Women Championships will be held at Happyland Bowling Center in Santiago de Chile from October 19-24, 2008. Players from 16 PABCON member federations will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team, All Events and Masters in a five-day competition starting on Oct. 20 with the Singles event and ending on Oct. 24 with the Masters final. The lane maintenance will be made by Kegel.

Macpherson, Dorin-Ballard ready to represent Team USA at PABCON Women's Championships

2008PCWWendyMacpherson_small.jpg 2008PCWCarolynDorinBallard_small.jpg For the first time, Wendy Macpherson (l.) and Carolyn Dorin-Ballard (r.) will compete as members of Team USA when they lead a group of the best female bowlers in the country to the 2008 Pan American Bowling Confederation Women's Championships in Santiago, Chile, from Oct. 20-24. Competition at the PABCON Women's Championships begins Monday with singles and continues with doubles, trios, team and Masters. Medals also will be awarded in all-events.
