Colombia dominates 19th South American Championships 2012 in Sao Paolo, Brazil

Colombian men and women take home 9 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals

2012SACLogo_small.jpg The men's and women's national teams from Colombia dominated the XIX South American Championships 2012 which were held from Oct. 15-21, 2012 at Neo Geo Bowling Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The eight Colombians captured nine out of 13 gold medals and added two silver and three bronze medals. The Championships drew 67 players - 38 men and 29 women - from ten countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and the host country Brazil.

World Games champion Otalora falls two pins short of a tie for gold

2010CACGLuisOlivo_small.jpg2010CACGManuelOtalora_small.jpgLuis Olivo (l.), Venezuela, earned the first gold medal in the men's bowling competition of the 21st Central American and Caribbean Games, when he won in Singles with 1346 total, an average of 224.33 for six games. 2009 World Games champion Manuel Otalora (r.), Colombia, closed out his set with a huge 267 game but fell two pins short of a tie for gold to settle for silver with 1344. Damien Matthews, Bermuda took the bronze medal with 1301.
