Quintanilla, Madriz end X Central American Games 2013 with victory in Masters match play

2013CAGEdithQuintanilla3_small.jpg2013CAGRodolfoMadriz2_small.jpgEdith Quintanilla (pictured left) of El Salvador and Rodolfo Madriz (right) of Costa Rica captured the coveted gold medals in Masters match play to end the bowling competition at the X Central American Games 2013 Sunday at Bol Cariari in San José, Costa Rica. Quinanilla defeated All Events champion Sofia Granda, Guatemala, for the women's title, 2-1, while Madriz topped compatriot James Stanley in the men's finals also in three games.

Guatemala's women, Costa Rican men dominate Team event at X Central American Games 2013

Alejandro Reyna (CRC) and Sofia Granda (GUA) win the gold medal in All Events

The women from Guatemala and the men from the host country Costa Rica (pictured) earned the gold medals in five-player Team event and in Team All Events in the X Central American Games 2013 Saturday at Bol Cariari in San José, Costa Rica. Alejandro Reyna of Costa Rica and Sofia Granda of Guatemala captured the gold medal in Men's and Women's All Events. The top eight men and the top 8 women in All Events advanced to Sunday's Masters match play.

Alejandro Reyna (CRC) and Sofia Granda (GUA) take over lead in All Events after 24 of 30 games

It was the fourth gold medal for the host country and the second for Guatemala. Alejandro Reyna, Mario Valverde and Alberto Lizano (l-r) posted a 3885 series, an average of 215.83, including a high game of 727 on the WTBA Montreal pattern to beat out their compatriots for the gold medal by 53 pins.

Sofia Granda, Armando Batres win first gold medal for Guatemala at Central American Games

Guatemala's Luis A. Herrera, Pamela Monzon lead in All Events after 18 of 30 games

2013CAGMixedDoublesTop3_small.jpgSofia Granda and Armando Batres teamed to win the first gold medal for Guatemala on the third day of competition at the X Central American Games 2013 Thursday at Bol Cariari in San José, Costa Rica. The duo, which led the event from the beginning, put together games of 453, 403, 501, 458, 446 and 392 on the WTBA Stockholm pattern for 2653 total and an average of 221.08 to cruise to the title in the Mixed Doubles event. Competition resumes Friday with the Trios event.

The team from the host country Costa Rica won the gold medals in Men's and Women's Doubles at the X Central American Games 2013 when Alberto Lizano/Rodolfo Madriz and Viviana Delgado/Marie Ramirez captured the titles Wednesday at Bol Cariari in San José, Costa Rica. The medals in Men's Doubles were decided in a 10th frame drama featuring three teams from Costa Rica and one team from Guatemala. When the dust had settled Costa Rica had swept all three medals.

Costa Rica's Viviana Delgado shoots first 300 game of the Games to capture the bronze medal in Women's Singles

2013CAGEdithQuintanillaAlejandroReyna_small.jpgAlejandro Reyna (r.) of Costa Rica and El Salvador's Edith Quintanilla (l.) started the bowling competition at the 10th Central American Games 2013 in San José, Costa Rica, with victory in men's and women's Singles. Reyna gave the host country its first gold medal when he rolled a 1354 series on the WTBA Stockholm pattern to capture the Men's Singles title with an average of 225.67. Quintanilla had six games between 200 and 255 to claim the women's gold with 1321 (220.17).

Tenpin Bowling is back on the Central American Games schedule

2013CAGLogo_small.jpg The X Central American Games 2013 are underway in San José, Costa Rica. After two consecutive editions without taking part, Tenpin Bowling celebrates its return at the quadrennial Games. The bowling competition will be held from March 12-17 at Bol Cariari. 51 bowlers - 27 men and 24 women - from five countries (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama and the host country, Costa Rica) will compete for the medals in Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Trios, Teams, individual All Events, Country All Events, and Masters.
