The Colombian team (pictured left; click image to enlarge), which won ten out of 18 gold medals including Country All Events, was spearheaded by former collegiate standout Anggie Ramirez (right), who won gold in every discipline she entered, Singles, Doubles, Trios, All Events and Masters.

Similar to the Ibero-American Championships in Athletics which started in 1983, the Ibero-American Championships in Tenpin Bowling (founded 2012) is a competition for bowlers representing countries in the Americas that were formerly colonies of Spain or Portugal and who are also included in the term.

The 2013 event drew 63 players from eleven countries, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay and the host country Argentina.

Each country was allowed to send up to two male and two female bowlers in the adult division and one male and one female bowlers in the Under-23 division, who bowled for gold, silver and bronze medals in eighteen disciplines on the WTBA Montreal oil pattern.

The U23 bowlers bowled six games Mixed Doubles, six games Trios (together with the adult bowlers), six games in singles with the top 4 in All Events advancing to Masters match play. The top two boys and girls bowled for the gold medal.

The adult bowlers bowled six games doubles, six games trios and six games singles with the top 8 advancing to Masters match play. The top three determined the Master gold medalist.

Colombia led the final medal count with 10 gold medals, three silver medals and four bronze medals.

Sanchez and Rey also captured individual titles in Singles and All Events, respectively.

Puerto Rico was second in the medal tally and the only other country which brought home multiple gold medals, all won by the U23 team, Cristina Rodriguez (left) and Michael Fonseca (right).

2013IACMenTriosBrazil.jpg2013IACJavierMorenoPacoRodriguez.jpgThe duo started with victory in Mixed Doubles. Fonseca also won the titles in Singles and All Events and Rodriguez finished the Championships with victory in Girls' Masters.

The remaining four gold medals went to Dominican Republic (Manuel Fernandez - Boys' Masters), Brazil (left; Flavio Castelloes, Renan Zoghaib & Charles Robini - Men's Trios), Argentina (Lucas Legnani - Men's Masters) and Spain (right; Javier Moreno Orzaez & Francisco Rodriguez - Men's Doubles).

The III Ibero-American Championship will take place in the Dominican Republic in 2014.
