Argentina's Lucas Legnani wins $1,000 in Tuesday's six-game Sweeper

Also advancing to the finals was Sara Rash of Montgomery, Ill., in the Bronze Division and national team members Lucas Legnani (l.) of Argentina and Martin Larsen (r.) of Sweden in the Gold Division. Legnani went on to win the second six-game sweeper worth $1,000.



Canadian Tenpin Federation announces 2011 Bowlers of the Year

Caroline Lagrange (l.), Montreal, Quebec and Dan MacLelland (r.), Windsor, Ontario are the adult awardees. In the Senior division, Debbie Ip, Edmonton, Alberta and Jack Brace, Toronto, ON are the winners. Youth Bowlers of the Year are Zachary Wilkins, Barrie, ON and Andreanne Blouin, Charlesbourgh, Quebec. This is Lagrange's sixth women Bowler of the Year award.



Ontario's Ryan-Ciach, Brace named 2011 Canadian Hall of Fame recipients

2009WUSOKerrieRyanCiach_small.jpgThe Canadian Tenpin Federation has named Kerrie Ryan-Ciach, Mississauga, Ontario and Jack Brace, Hampton, ON recipient of the 2011 Hall of Fame awards. Ryan-Ciach (pictured), the 2002 Bowling World Cup winner, is a multi-year member of Team Canada and has earned numerous medals at Pan American and World Championships. In 2003. Brace was a member of Team Canada Men's team from 1988-1994 and a member of the Senior Team in 2011 and has earned many medals.



Andres Gomez, Maria Rodriguez win 2012 Colombian Team Trials

201112PBAAndresGomez_small.jpg2009WUSOMariaJoseRodriguez_small.jpgPBA champion Andres Gomez (l.) of Bogota and collegiate standout Maria Rodriguez (r.) of Tolima won the 2012 Colombian Team Trials which concluded Dec. 17 at Andres Escobar Bowling Complex in Medellin. All players - men and women - had to bowl a total of 48 games, eight games per day on six different World Tenpin Bowling Association oil patterns. The top six men and the top six women earned automatic berths into Team Colombia.

Red Rock Lanes to host 2012 International Senior Open

Inaugural event features two different age divisions for both men and women

The 2012 International Senior Open will be staged inside the beautiful Red Rock Lanes, a 60-laner within Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa from Dec. 2-8. The inaugural event features Singles, Doubles, Team and Masters competition in four divisions - Men 50-60, Men 61 and older, Women 45-55 and Women 56 and older.



Canadian Tenpin Federation adds four players to 2012 Team Canada roster

The ywill join the six men and six women who earned their team spots at the 2011 Canadian National Championships held in May. Georg Lambert IV (l.) and Michael Schmidt (r.) were selected for the men's team. Jennifer Park and Kim Green were selected for the women.

The International Mini teams up with WTBA International Open, USBC Masters

Three event promoters create no-cost-to-enter all-events $30,000 prize fund

2012MiniEliminatorLogo_small.jpg The International Mini is a new major bowling event which will be hosted by Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center in Las Vegas, Jan. 28 - Feb. 5. What is being promoted as "the greatest two weeks of bowling" The International Mini will follow the USBC Masters (Jan. 22-29) and run concurrently with the WTBA 2012 International Open. Over $500,000 in prize money will be paid out.

2011TriStateQueensDivisionTop3_small.jpg Tina Stickney (center), Phoenix, Ariz., was crowned the 2011 Women's Bowling Alliance Tri-State Queen (AZ, CA, NV) by defeating Laurie Soto (right) of Canyon Country, Calif., in the title match, 234-209, at Sunset Station Strike Zone Lanes. The anticipation for the championship match was high since the two athletes were tied after seven games of round robin match play. Stickney received $400 plus a $350 entry into the 2012 USBC Queens in Euless, Texas.

Las Vegas tournaments to offer special prize fund

Sunset Station to host three big tournaments in Jan./Feb. 2012


In just a few months, Sunset Station Hotel and Casino in Henderson, Nev., will become a hotbed for bowling, and competitors will have the chance to strike it rich with three big tournaments - the United States Bowling Congress Masters, The International Mini and the World Tenpin Bowling Association International Open. There will be a special $30,000 prize fund available to those who compete in all three events.

Californian Bidwell becomes youngest player ever to win New Mexico Open

The 22-year-old (r.), a sophomore at Wichita State University, set a new high score in the championship match to beat veteran pro bowler, Mike Edwards of Tulsa, Okla., 285-242, for the record $7,500 first prize. The 2012 New Mexico Open is aiming for either $50,000 in prize money or a berth on the World Bowling Tour and a minimum $100,000 pot.

Team USA dominates 49th Lee Evans Tournament of The Americas

20-player team wins 30 out of 45 gold medals


146 players - 79 male and 67 female bowlers - from 15 countries participated in the 49th Lee Evans Tournament of The Americas from July 31 - Aug. 6, 2011 50 Adults, 37 Seniors, 14 Super Seniors, 24 Junior A and 21 Junior B competed for medals in Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Teams, All Events and Country All Events at Sawgrass Lanes in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., United States. The 20-player Team USA dominated the event winning 30 out of 45 gold medals including all gold medals in the Team event and Country All Events.

History made as first 300 game ever rolled during qualifying

2011QAMFIFTLogo_small.jpgTwo years ago it was mothers helping their children win scholarships, but in 2011 when the final pin dropped at the 36th Annual International Family Tournament (IFT) presented by QubicaAMF and sponsored by Georgia Coffee, it was nearly all men who were found standing atop the leader board. King Pin Lanes in Louisville, Kentucky hosted the bowling competition July 28-30. Some 69 teams representing 26 states competed in two age divisions - Parent/Teen and Parent/Youth - to win their share of $70,000 in scholarship money.

In the final match, Jones and Pluhowsky defeated Andres Gomez and Clara Juliana Guerrero, 439-399, for the title. Jones and Pluhowsky took home $8000 for their victory, while Gomez and Guerrero earned $4000 for second place.

In the final of the True Amateur Tournaments Summer Classic at The Orleans 22-year-old Devin Bidwell emerged from the five-bowler group victorious, also worth $20,000.



Brazil sweeps Masters titles at VIII South American Championship for Bowling Clubs 2011


Igor Pizzoli and Roberta Rodriguez swept the men's and women's Masters titles for Esporte Club Pinheiros Brazil at the 8th South American Championship for Bowling Clubs June 12-19, 2011 in Bogota, Colombia. Pizzoli, Rodriguez and their team mates Marcelo Suartz and Stephanie Martins also captured the coveted team title with 5459 six-game total and an average of 227.46 and finished second to Anzoátegui Venezuela in Team All Events.



MacLelland, Lagrange crowned Men's and Women's Canadian National Champion

The adult team will represent Canada at the Pan American Championships in 2012 at a site and date to be determined. Canada's senior and youth teams were also decided at the National Championships.

Montreal area to host 2011 Canadian National Championships

CTFLogo2_small.jpg200 of the best bowlers in Canada – 144 men and 56 women – will compete for the right to wear Team Canada colors in 2012. Competition in the 2011 Canadian National Championships will take place May 20-23 at Laurentian Lanes, 222 Cote de Liesse, St. Laurent, QC. The 2012 adult Team Canada (men and women) will compete at the PABCON Championships (TBD). Two men and women from the team will bowl for Canada at the 2012 Tournament of the Americas which will be held in Orlando, Florida in August.
