Walter Ray Williams Jr. tops Hall-of-Fame field to win PBA50 Tour Finals

2013PBA50FinalWeberWilliamsMonacelli_small.jpgWalter Ray Williams Jr. (center) topped a three-man all-star field to win the inaugural PBA50 Tour Finals Sunday, Nov. 3, at South Point Exhibition Hall in Las Vegas. In the finals, which featured three PBA Hall of Famers who qualified based on competition points earned during the 2013 PBA50 Tour season, Williams defeated Venezuela's Amleto Monacelli (r.), 224-204, after Monacelli eliminated Pete Weber (l.) of St. Ann, Mo., 243-208, in the first match.

Robert Harvey earns second PBA50 Dick Weber Sportsmanship Award

2013PBA50RobertHarvey_small.jpg PBA50 Tour veteran Robert Harvey of Boise, Idaho, has been selected as the 2013 PBA50 Tour's Dick Weber Sportsmanship Award winner by his fellow players marking the second time he has won the honor named after the legendary PBA Hall of Famer. "It's an honor to win it once and a surprise to get it twice," said the 57-year-old pro shop owner who first won the award in 2010. "It's especially an honor to receive an award that's voted on by your peers and named after one of the greats of the game."

Pete Weber wins PBA50 Treasure Island Resort & Casino Open on 51st birthday

Second victory locks up PBA50 Rookie of the Year title, berth in PBA50 Tour Finals in season finale

The now 51-year-old St. Ann, Mo., resident defeated Robert Harvey (r.) of Boise, Idaho, 243-227, at Island Xtreme Bowl in the PBA50 Tour's final event of the 2013 season to claim the $7,500 first prize.

Tom Baker tops qualifying for PBA50 Treasure Island Resort & Casino Open

Lennie Boresch Jr. and Pete Weber to battle for last PBA50 Tour Finals berth

2013PBA50TomBaker_small.jpgProfessional Bowlers Association Hall of Famer and four-time PBA50 Player of the Year Tom Baker (pictured) of King, N.C., retained his lead after the second round of qualifying in the PBA50 Treasure Island Resort & Casino Open presented by MOTIV Tuesday, leading a field of 24 players heading into match play. In the final tournament of the season, Baker finished qualifying with a 3,985 16-game pinfall total (249 average) bowling games of 266, 258, 236, 209, 239, 228, 259 and 244 in Tuesday's second round.

Tom Baker averages 255 to lead first round in PBA50 Treasure Island Resort & Casino Open

2013PBA50TomBaker_small.jpg Four-time PBA50 Player of the Year Tom Baker (pictured) averaged 255 to lead the first round of the PBA50 Treasure Island Resort and Casino Open presented by MOTIV Monday at Island Xtreme Bowl. Trying for his second win of the season, the PBA Hall of Famer had a 2,046 eight-game pinfall total with games of 276, 280, 246, 206, 248, 279, 255 and 256 to lead Michael Shequin of Orange City, Fla., in second with 1,989. Competition continues with another eight-game qualifying round on Tuesday after which the field will be cut to the top 24.

PBA50 Tour veteran Kerry Painter, local star Tom Adcock win PBA50 Doubles Classic

2013PBA5010KerryPainterTomAdcock_small.jpg The doubles team of PBA50 Tour veteran Kerry Painter and local standout Tom Adcock (l-r) combined for their first PBA50 Tour title by winning the PBA50 Senior/Super Senior Doubles Classic Tuesday at Spare Time Lanes. The pair beat two of PBA's all-time greats, Hall of Famers Johnny Petraglia of Jackson, N.J. and Wayne Webb of Columbus, Ohio, 267-187, in the Baker format championship match. This is the first win for Painter after six years bowling on the PBA50 Tour.

Exhausted Michigan Super Senior averages 227 to lead entire Decatur field

2009PBASMitchJabczenski_small.jpgMitch Jabczenski (pictured) of Novi, Mich., isn't sure how he did it, but one day shy of his 61st birthday, he found himself leading the entire field after the opening round of qualifying in the PBA50 Tour Senior/Super Senior Doubles Classic at Spare Time Lanes Sunday. Jabczenski, who has never finished higher than ninth place in a PBA50 Tour event, posted an 1,816 pinfall total – a 227 average – to lead not only his fellow 60-and-older Super Senior players, but the younger 50-59 Senior field as well.

Indiana tournament features all-PBA Hall of Fame championship round

Helped by Mark's pocket 7-10 split in the 10th frame, Walter Ray completed a come-from-behind victory to win his third PBA50 Tour title of the year, the seventh PBA50 Tour title of his career, and he expanded his points lead in the PBA50 Player of the Year race to 18 points.

Pete Weber averages 232.5 to lead first round at PBA50 South Shore Open

Pete Weber (pictured), the winner of the Barbasol PBA Tournament of Champions on the PBA Tour and the United States Bowling Co, ngress Senior Masters on the PBA50 Tour this season, averaged 232.5 to take the qualifying lead after the first round of the PBA50 South Shore Open presented by DV8 Tuesday at Olympia Lanes. The Hall of Famer bowled a 1,860 eight-game pinfall total with games of 247, 246, 206, 225, 204, 239, 269 and 224 to lead a field of 109 players in the ninth of eleven PBA50 Tour events this season.

Williams, the reigning PBA50 Player of the Year, defeated amateur Pete Thomas of Oklahoma City, 20-19 in a two-frame roll-off after the players tied with a 223 game. It was the sixth career PBA50 Tour title for Williams.

Senior U.S. Open winner leads qualifying for fourth time this season

Monacelli, who successfully defended his PBA Senior U.S. Open title June 7, led qualifying with a 3,942 16-game pinfall total (246.3 average). amateur Pete Thomas of Oklahoma City finished qualifying in second place just six pins behind Monacelli.

Super Senior Ron Winger paces field in PBA50 Northern California Classic

71-year-old five-time PBA50 Tour champion averages over 250 in opening round

Five-time PBA50 Tour champion Ron Winger (pictured) of Las Vegas, averaged 251.8 to lead first round qualifying Monday in the PBA50 Northern California Classic presented by Track at Harvest Park Bowl. The 71-year-old Winger, whose last PBA50 Tour win came almost 10 years ago, had a 2,015 eight-game pinfall total with games of 215, 248, 255, 278, 290, 215, 214 and 300. Winger's 300 enabled him to move ahead of Amleto Monacelli of Venezuela, who finished the round in second with a 1,982 pinfall.

Pete Weber earns first victory on PBA50 Tour in 2013 USBC Senior Masters

Weber delivered a clutch finish after USBC Hall of Famer Lennie Boresch Jr. of Kenosha, Wis., gave him an opening in the final frame. Weber struck on his first shot in the 10th frame to lock up the win, 229-205, at the South Point Bowling Center. Weber earned $16,000 for his first victory on the PBA50 Tour.

The USBC and PBA Hall of Famer, finished the 15 games of qualifying with 3,353 (223.5 average). The top 64 players advanced to the double-elimination match-play bracket, which will get underway Thursday at 8 a.m. Pacific. The bracket will determine the final five bowlers who will compete for the title in the stepladder finals Friday at 3 p.m. Pacific.

Amleto Monacelli moves into USBC Senior Masters lead after Round Two Qualifying

Fresh off a win at last week's PBA Senior U.S. Open, Monacelli jumped into the lead with a 10-game total of 2,222 (222.2 average) at South Point Bowling Center. PBA Hall of Famer Randy Pedersen of Clermont, Fla., and 2008 Senior Masters champion Kenny Parks of Hammond, Ind., are tied for second place with 2,221.

Sam Carter takes early lead in USBC Senior Masters qualifying

Carter put together a five-game block of 1,142 (228.4 average) to lead the field of 268 of the top senior bowlers age 50 and over in the world at South Point Bowling Center. Carter, who had games of 232, 279, 193, 245 and 193, bowled on the "burn" condition in the opening round but will face fresh oil in the next two rounds.

2013PBA5006AmletoMonacelli_small.jpgPBA Hall of Famer Amleto Monacelli successfully defended his Suncoast PBA Senior U.S. Open presented by Storm title Friday at the Suncoast Bowling Center in Las Vegas for his second career PBA50 Tour title and to become the sixth different winner in six tournaments this season on the PBA50 Tour. As the top qualifier for the finals, the Venezuelan defeated 2011 Senior U.S. Open winner Ron Mohr, 199-193, in the championship match in the first major tournament of the season.
