Silver Lake Atom Splitters win 2014 PBA League Elias Cup

Atom Splitters defeat L.A. X 4-2 in 'Battle of Los Angeles' finals

2014PBALeagueFinalSilverLakeAtomSplitters_small.jpgDown 2 points to 1 and trailing by 31 pins in the deciding final Baker game, the Silver Lake Atom Splitters  (L-R Mark Baker, Chris Barnes, Dom Barrett, Wes Malott, Bryon Smith, and Tommy Jones) rallied to defeat L.A. X to win the 2014 PBA League Elias Cup. In the fifth frame of the Baker game, which was worth three points, the Atom Splitters combined to string the last seven strikes to overtake L.A. X, winning the game, 225-203, and the match 4-2.

2014 PBA Tournament of Champions moves to Detroit in January

The 2014 PBA Barbasol Tournament of Champions will move to Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Mich., beginning Jan. 18 and concluding with a live ESPN telecast at noon ET on Sunday, Jan. 26, the PBA announced Friday. The change in venue and dates for the 49th TOC from previously announced April in Indianapolis is accompanied by a revised PBA League competition and ESPN air-date schedule.

2012PBALeagueLogo_small.jpg Following a couple of key strategic signing moves in the final hours of the re-signing period on Aug. 31, PBA League "free agency" opened with a flurry of activity on Sunday, Sept. 1, and ended almost as quickly as it started. As the Labor Day weekend came to a close, all eight PBA League teams had filled their pre-draft rosters with the league maximum of four signed players. Each team will have one additional roster slot to fill during the 2014 PBA League Draft, which will be held at the conclusion of the World Series of Bowling.

Under the new rules for the 2014 season – which officially gets underway Jan. 1 at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Mich. – team managers have until Aug. 31 to re-sign up to three players (in addition to the No. 1 player, who is automatic) from last year's rosters, and assign them to "slot" positions on their 2014 rosters – from No. 2 through No. 5.
