Reno/Las Vegas Properties to offer opportunity to wager on Rolltech PBA World Championship

Oddsmaker establishes Australia's Jason Belmonte as early favorite at 7/2 odds

2015PBAWSOBVIILogo_small.jpgFor the first time, bowling fans of legal gambling age will be able to wager on the outcome of the 2015 Rolltech PBA World Championship through sports book venues in Las Vegas and Reno. The crown jewel of the GEICO PBA World Series of Bowling VII will be the season's final major championship and it will include the first live prime-time telecast of a PBA Tour event in 14 years when the stepladder finals get underway on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET Thursday, Dec. 17 at Reno's National Bowling Stadium.

Boston Red Sox star is working hard for his newest challenge as a professional athlete

2015PBAWSOBVIIMookieBetts_small.jpgMookie Betts (pictured) returned to his home in Nashville, Tenn., on Monday, Oct. 5 – the day after his highly-successful season with the Boston Red Sox ended – and that evening, a supply of new bowling balls was delivered to his house. Tuesday afternoon, he was at Donelson Strike & Spare, practicing as he began preparing for his debut in the GEICO Professional Bowlers Association World Series of Bowling VII, presented by Silver Legacy and the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Bureau, in Reno, Nev., Dec. 7-19.

Ryan Ciminelli wins Bowlmor AMF U.S. Open for first major PBA title

Ciminelli, who led the field by 461 pins to earn the top spot in the stepladder finals, held off Dominic Barrett (r.) of Colchester, England, 236-223, in the title match at AMF Garland Lanes. It was the fourth career title and the second sonsecutive this season for Ciminelli, who received the $50,000 first-place check.

Ryan Ciminelli earns top spot for Bowlmor AMF U.S. Open finals

2015PBA18Finalists_small.jpgRyan Ciminelli (r.) of Cheektowaga, New York, continued his strong run at the 2015 Bowlmor AMF U.S. Open on Saturday, leading the field by 461 pins to earn his fifth TV appearance in a major tournament. Ciminelli, who earned the top qualifying spot for Sunday's TV finals with a 13,445 pinfall total for 56 games, including bonus pins, will be joined in the finals by Pete Weber, Norm Duke, Dominic Barrett and defending champion Wes Malott (r-l).

Ryan Ciminelli regains lead in opening match play round at 2015 U.S. Open

2014PBAWSOBRyanCiminelli_small.jpgRyan Ciminelli (pictured) of Cheektowaga, New York, fired games of 237, 265, 243, 279, 230, 258, 232 and 259 to dominate the opening round of match play to recapture the lead at the 2015 Bowlmor AMF U.S. Open on Friday night. The 29-year-old left-hander averaged more than 250 at AMF Garland Lanes in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas,  on his way to a 7-1 match-play record and 9,348 total, including bonus pins, to put himself nearly 300 pins ahead of two-time U.S. Open champion Norm Duke of Clermont, Florida, who is second with 9,053.

John Szczerbinski takes lead at 2015 U.S. Open as field is cut to top 92 bowlers

2014PBAJohnSzczerbinski_small.jpgBefore heading to the 2015 Bowlmor AMF U.S. Open, John Szczerbinski (pictured left) of North Tonawanda, New York, spent some time working on the feel of his equipment and some inconsistencies in his physical game. His efforts paid dividends at AMF Garland Lanes in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, this week as the five-time Team USA member never fell below second place and finished Thursday's third round of qualifying atop the 275-player field with a 24-game total of 5,530, a 230.42 average.

Ryan Ciminelli leads after second round at 2015 U.S. Open

2015PBA18RyanCiminelli_small.jpgLess than two weeks after capturing his third Professional Bowlers Association Tour title, Ryan Ciminelli (pictured) of Cheektowaga, New York, finds himself on top of the standings at the 2015 Bowlmor AMF U.S. Open through two rounds of qualifying. The 29-year-old left-hander posted an eight-game block of 1,829 at AMF Garland Lanes in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, on Wednesday to move into the lead with a 16-game total of 3,690 and an average of 230.6.

Cameron Weier leads after opening round at 2015 U.S. Open

2015PBA18CameronWeier_small.jpg Cameron Weier (pictured) of Tacoma, Washington, may be new to the professional bowling ranks, but he quickly has made his presence known and now is the player to beat at the 2015 Bowlmor AMF U.S. Open. The 25-year-old right-hander posted an eight-game score of 1,895, a 236.88 average, to set the pace after the first day of qualifying Tuesday at AMF Garland Lanes in Dallas/Fort Worth. Weier finished one pin ahead of John Szczerbinski of North Tonawanda, New York (1,894).

The tournament was on hiatus in 2014, so now, two years later, the 39-year-old right-hander finally gets to put his title on the line at the upcoming Bowlmor AMF U.S. Open, scheduled to take place at AMF Garland Lanes in Garland, Texas, from Nov. 2-8.

Ryan Ciminelli out-strikes Anthony Pepe to win PBA Xtra Frame South Point Las Vegas Open

2015PBA17RyanCiminelli_small.jpgRyan Ciminelli (pictured) of Cheektowaga, N.Y., struck on 10 of 12 shots to defeat top qualifier Anthony Pepe of Elmhurst, N.Y., 269-211, in the title match of the South Point Las Vegas Open Thursday at South Point Bowling Plaza. In winning the duel of New York lefthanders, Ciminelli picked up his third career title since 2013. It was a big disappointment for Pepe who had led the tournament from the first round, qualifying first for the stepladder finals by 370 pins over Ciminelli.

Anthony Pepe leads qualifying in PBA Xtra Frame South Point Las Vegas Open

First PBA titlist at South Point Bowling Plaza leads the top 16 players into two eight-game round-robin match play rounds Thursday

2014PBAAnthonyPepe_small.jpgAnthony Pepe (pictured) of Elmhurst, N.Y., who won his first PBA title in the new South Point Bowling Plaza, continued his run of high-quality bowling in the Plaza Wednesday, averaging 240 to claim the lead after qualifying in the PBA Xtra Frame South Point Las Vegas Open. Pepe, who won the 2014 PBA Cheetah Championship in his national television debut last fall, finished qualifying with a 16-game total of 3,843 pins (240.19 average) to lead the top 16 into two eight-game round-robin match play rounds Thursday.

Pickford/Simonsen held off every challenge throughout 20 team games of qualifying and match play to win the top berth in the finals by 245 pins over England's Dom Barrett and Finland's Osku Palermaa.

The season's final major will mark the first live prime-time telecast of a PBA Tour event in 14 years when the stepladder finals get underway at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. local time).

Sean Rash wins PBA Xtra Frame Iowa Midwest Open for ninth career Tour title

Overcomes foot injury to beat Pete Weber in title match, 219-217

2015PBA16SeanRash_small.jpg Despite dropping a ball on his foot a few days ago, Sean Rash (center) of Montgomery, Ill., persevered to win the PBA Xtra Frame Iowa Midwest Open Sunday at Thunderbowl in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Rash won his first title of the season and ninth of his career by defeating PBA Hall of Famer Pete Weber of St. Ann, Mo., 219-217, in the championship match. Weber was trying for his 38th career title to tie fellow Hall of Famer Norm Duke for third on the all-time list.

Weber bowled a 1,857 eight-game pinfall total to hold a 63-pin lead over former PBA Player of the Year and eight-time Tour winner Sean Rash (r.) of Montgomery, Ill., in second with 1,794 (224 average).

Former standout Tennessee youth bowler to test his bowling skills in Reno in December

2015PBAWSOBVIIMookieBetts2_small.jpg Boston Red Sox centerfielder Mookie Betts (pictured), a rising star in major league baseball, has entered the Professional Bowlers Association's GEICO World Series of Bowling VII which will be held Dec. 7-19 at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev. Betts, who turns 23 on Wednesday, will test his bowling skills against more than 200 of the best players in the world in the multi-event WSOB VII. Betts is a former standout youth bowler who averages in the plus-200 range.

Ryan Shafer wins PBA Xtra Frame Gene Carter Pro Shop East Classic in Delaware

29-year PBA Tour veteran ends 12-year title drought with fifth career victory

Shafer, a 29-year PBA Tour veteran and a 26-time PBA Regional title winner, earned $15,000 along with his fifth PBA Tour title and first since the 2003 Empire State Open in Latham, N.Y.

Kyle Troup races away with qualifying lead in Gene Carter Pro Shop Classic

Two-hander averages 245.7 to lead the top 24 bowlers into Sunday's 16-game match play round

Troup, a 23-year-old two-handed player, won his only PBA Tour title in the PBA Wolf Open during the Grand Casino Hotel & Resort Summer Swing earlier this year in Shawnee, Okla. Saturday he posted a 1,720 total to easily pace the sold-out field of 180 bowlers.
