DJ Archer, Bob Learn Jr. team up to win PBA-PBA50 South Shore Doubles title

DJ Archer of Friendswood, Texas, and PBA50 partner Bob Learn Jr. of Erie, Pa. (l-r), used critically-place strikes to defeat EJ Tackett of Huntington, Ind., and PBA Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams Jr. of Oxford, Fla., 213-206, to win the PBA-PBA50 South Shore Doubles presented by DV8 at Olympia Lanes Saturday. Archer earned his second PBA Tour title and Learn, a five-time PBA Tour champion in his earlier years, claimed his third PBA50 Tour title.

Jones, Keane lead 18 doubles teams into PBA/PBA50 South Shore Doubles match play

Jones topped PBA Tour division qualifying with a 3,750 16-game overall pinfall (234 average). Keane (r.) took the top qualifying spot in the PBA50 division with the field-best 3,759 pinfall (235 average).

Shannon O'Keefe, Bill O'Neill win second Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles title

O'Keefe earns her firsat PWBA title while O'Neill picks up his seventh PBA title

2015PBA13ShannonOKeefeBillONeill_small.jpgShannon O'Keefe of O'Fallon, Ill., and Bill O'Neill of Langhorne, Pa., won their first seven of eight matches Sunday to run away with the 16th annual PBA-PWBA Xtra Frame Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles tournament title at Palace Lanes, repeating their title-winner performance of 2013. O'Keefe earned her first PBA title while O'Neill picked up his seventh PBA title and second of the 2015 season. The winner pair also split the $15,000 first prize.

Lynda and Chris Barnes lead Qualifying in Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles

2015PBA13ChrisandLyndaBarnes_small.jpgLynda and Chris Barnes (pictured) averaged a combined 214.6 over eight games to take the qualifying lead in the 16th annual PBA-PWBA Xtra Frame Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles tournament Saturday at Palace Lanes in Houston, Texas. Lynda, a member of the USBC Hall of Fame, and husband Chris, an 18-time PBA champion, finished qualifying with 3,434 pins to take a one-pin lead over Jodi Woessner and Dino Castillo into Sunday's cashers' round.

Anita Arnett, Tyler Jensen hold early lead in Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles

In second place after the opening squad were Kristin Warzinski of Muskegon, Mich., and Joe Findling, Mesquite, Texas, with 3,272, 145 pins behind the leaders.

Sixteen years and $650,000 later, Luci Bonneau has not been forgotten and her memory has never been more appreciated. Most bowling fans refer to it as "The Luci," but it is now more accurately called the PBA/PWBA Xtra Frame Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles.

14 years later, Olympia Lanes to host revival of PBA/PBA50 Doubles Championship

Rising stars to team up with established stars live on PBA's Xtra Frame video-streaming channel

PBA1958Logo_mini.jpgAfter a 14-year absence, the Professional Bowlers Association's top senior and contemporary stars will converge on Olympia Lanes in Hammond Aug. 5-7 for the Xtra Frame PBA/PBA50 South Shore Doubles Championship. The PBA/PBA50 doubles event, last held in Reno, Nev., in 2001, historically gave the rising stars of professional bowling an opportunity to bowl as doubles partners with "senior" players, many of whom had already achieved hall of fame status.

EJ Tackett wins PBA Xtra Frame Lubbock Sports Southwest Open

PBA's 2013 Rookie of the Year captures first PBA Tour title and $15,000 prize

2015PBA12EJTackett_small.jpg Top qualifier EJ Tackett (r.) of Huntington, Ind., threw a string of seven consecutive strikes to defeated Bill O'Neill of Langhorne, Pa., 256-213, to win the PBA Xtra Frame Lubbock Sports Southwest Open and his first PBA Tour title Sunday at South Plains Lanes in in Lubbock, Texas. Tackett, PBA's 2013 Rookie of the Year, opened the title match with three single-pin spares, but made a few adjustments and followed with his string of seven strikes to run away from O'Neill.

PBA adds South Point Bowling Plaza Fall Classic to 2015 Schedule

All-new PBA Team Challenge, PBA Doubles Championship, XF South Point Open set for October

2015PBALogo_small.jpgThe PBA will return to South Point Bowling Plaza Oct. 19-26 with a new PBA South Point Bowling Plaza Fall Classic program, featuring an all-new PBA Team Challenge, qualifying and match play rounds of the Mark Roth/Marshall Holman PBA Doubles Championship and a new PBA Tour title event, the PBA Xtra Frame South Point Las Vegas Open. The new competition program for South Point became possible when the PBA moved the GEICO World Series of Bowling VII, originally scheduled for South Point, to Reno, Nev.

Andres Gomez wins PBA Xtra Frame Pensacola South Open

Native Colombian defeats Tom Daugherty for third PBA Tour title, $10,000 prize

2015PBA11AndresGomez_small.jpgAndres Gomez (pictured) of Colombia won his third PBA Tour title Sunday, June 21, defeating Tom Daugherty of Wesley Chapel, Fla., 211-192, to win the PBA Xtra Frame Pensacola South Open at New Liberty Lanes in Pensacola, Fla. With strikes in the ninth frame and first shot in the 10th, Gomez overcame an unconverted 2-10 split in the eighth frame to lock up the $10,000 first prize on a demanding PBA Bear lane conditioning pattern. His his previous PBA Tour titles came in the 2011 and 2013 Carmen Salvino Classic tournaments.

2015 PBA World Championship to air live in prime time on ESPN

PBA World Series of Bowling VII moves to Reno in December; new PBA events planned for South Point in October

PBA1958Logo_mini.jpgThe 2015 Professional Bowlers Association World Championship, the main event of the PBA World Series of Bowling VII and the final major championship of the year, will be televised live in weekday prime time on ESPN for the first time in 14 years, PBA Commissioner and CEO Tom Clark announced today. The move to live two-hour coverage at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, Dec. 17, will result in a shift of PBA World Series of Bowling VII from its previously-announced October time frame at South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas to the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev.

O'Neill won his sixth career PBA Tour title by defeating two-time defending PBA Player of the Year Jason Belmonte of Australia, 247-172, in the title match.

For a player who gets better results playing on PBA's shorter lane conditions, Russell surprised even himself by winning the Badger Open at the Grand Casino Resort Event Center in Shawnee, Okla., defeating four-time Tour winner and top qualifier Dom Barrett of England, 218-178.

No. 4 qualifier foils Hall of Famer Norm Duke's bid for 39th title

Jones, whose last U.S. title came in the 2008 GEICO Classic, won four straight matches from the No. 4 qualifying position in a challenging stepladder final that required all players to execute spares, split conversions as well as throwing strikes.

Proving the adage that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, the son of equally-flamboyant eight-time Tour winner Guppy Troup, defeated 2014 PBA Rookie of the Year Marshall Kent , 229-179, in a championship match that featured two of PBA's rising stars.

Barrett completed qualifying with a 2,732 12-game pinfall total, bowling games of 192, 222, 234, 225, 237 and 234 in Wednesday's final round. Joining Barrett in the stepladder finals were Rhino Page, Ronnie Russell, Walter Ray Williams Jr. and Shawn Maldonado (l-r).
