Walter Ray Williams Jr. wins Viper Championship for 99th title in PBA competition

Williams (pictured) won the 99th tournament of his PBA career by defeating two-time PBA50 Player of the Year Ron Mohr of Las Vegas, 268-258, in the title match of the Treasure Island Resort & Casino Viper Championship, one of three regional events conducted as a prelude to Saturday's final day of the World Championship.

Sponsorship agreement bolsters prize funds across PBA's extensive regional program

The Professional Bowlers Association has announced a partnership agreement has been signed with QubicaAMF Worldwide, the world leader in bowling capital equipment and state-of-the-art automatic scoring technologies, that will bolster the extensive QubicaAMF PBA Regional Tour program. Under the partnership agreement, QubicaAMF's participation assures the prize funds for the more than 150 tournaments conducted in the PBA's seven domestic regions.

Pepe erased a 71-pin deficit in the final position round match by defeating 2015 PBA Xtra Frame Lubbock Open winner EJ Tackett (r.) of Huntington, Ind., 278-182.

Field set for FireLake PBA Tournament of Champions after Winter Open Qualifying

2014PBAWSOBAnthonyLaverySpahr_small.jpgWith the completion of Saturday's qualifying round in the PBA Grand Hotel, Casino & Resort Winter Open regional tournament at the FireLake Bowling Center in Shawnee, Okla., an additional 26 entrants for the FireLake PBA Tournament of Champions field were determined who will join the 53-player exempt field when qualifying begins on Tuesday. Anthony Lavery-Spahr (pictured right) topped qualifying with a 1,953 eight-game pinfall (244 average). ESPN will air the TOC finals live on Sunday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. CT).

The final telecast from the GEICO PBA World Series of Bowling VII featured three different levels of PBA competition – seniors, women and regional – in addition to a Teen Masters Grand Championship match showcasing two emerging stars in the sport.

Amateur Russ Davies defeats Walter Ray Williams Jr. win PBA50 South Point West Open regional

The 60-year-old Davies defeated Williams, 217-206, in the title match for his first PBA title and the $1,500 top prize in the concluding event of the inaugural PBA Fall Classic.

Danielle McEwan wins South Point PBA West Challenge for first PBA Regional title

As a PBA West Region title winner, McEwan is now eligible to enter the 2016 FireLake PBA Tournament of Champions.

Marshall Kent shoots big games to win PBA Sands Regency West/Northwest Classic

2014PBAMarshallKent_small.jpg Marshall Kent (pictured) of Yakima, Wash., defeated top qualifier Mike Wolfe of New Albany, Ind., 276-237, to win the PBA Sands Regency West/Northwest Classic at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev., Sunday. Along with his second career PBA Regional title, the 2014 PBA Rookie of the Year earned a $10,000 first prize. On Friday, Rookie Cameron Weier of Federal Way, Wash., Kent's former Robert Morris-Illinois University teammate, won his first PBA title in the PBA Sands Regency West/Northwest Challenge.

Jesper Svensson defeats Thomas Larsen to win PBA South Point All Regions Open

International bowlers dominate PBA Regional event with four players in the top 5

2014SouthPointOpenJesperSvensson_small.jpg Swedish two-handed lefty Jesper Svensson (pictured) defeated Thomas Larsen of Denmark, 259-214, to win the PBA South Point All Regions Open Sunday at South Point Bowling Center in Las Vegas and to earn the $3,000 top prize. Larsen pocketed $1,700 for second place. Using a urethane bowling ball, Svensson, the reigning World Youth Championships Masters champion, achieved perfection to eliminate fellow Swede Kim Bolleby in the semifinals, 300-228.

PBA Southwest Region to induct five in inaugural Hall of Fame ceremony

PBA1958Logo_mini.jpgThe PBA Southwest Region will induct five individuals into the PBA Southwest Region Hall of Fame in its inaugural induction ceremony at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, at the Grand Casino, Hotel and Resort in Shawnee, Okla. The Hall of Fame ceremony will be held in conjunction with the PBA Grand Casino, Hotel and Resort Southwest Invitational, which will be hosted by FireLake Bowling Center. In additional, Grand Casino will be the "home" of the PBA Southwest Region Hall of Fame, housing a special display to honor the inductees.

PBA introduces new Women's Regional Tournament Program

PBA1958Logo_mini.jpgThe Professional Bowlers Association has created a new PBA Women's Regional Tour program that will begin in July and culminate at the PBA World Series of Bowling VI in Las Vegas this fall, Commissioner Tom Clark announced yesterday. The PBA Women's Regional Tour will provide women bowlers with opportunities to compete against other women in the same kind of affordable, close-to-home tournament structure that has given thousands of male bowlers an opportunity to develop their skills since the PBA introduced its regional program 1969.

PBA to expand Regional Tournament Program into Japan

Inaugural eight-event series will be open to men and women

The inaugural PBA Japan Regional series will include eight tournaments – five of the events will be open to men and women, three will be exclusively for women. Because certain details regarding the new program in Japan have not been finalized, the PBA has revised the original release published on June 6.
