2015PBA50ChrisWarren_small.jpgChris Warren of Grants Pass, Ore., posted a 6-2 match play record and a 3,510 pinfall total Sunday to win the PBA Boise Northwest/West Open at 20th Century Lanes in Boise, Idaho, moving to within one title of catching PBA Hall of Famer Pete Weber for the all-time PBA Regional titles lead. Warren, who now owns 47 standard PBA Regional titles, earned $2,000 when he defeated David Haynes of Las Vegas by 39 pins for the title. Warren, 52, also has won six PBA Tour titles and one PBA50 Regional title for 54 overall PBA titles.

The multi-event competition will include four animal pattern championships, each offering a guaranteed $20,000 first prize, and the live nationally-televised ESPN finals of PBA World Championship, offering a $60,000 first prize. Entries are open to PBA members only on a first-come basis.

2016WalterRayWilliamsvisitsChina_small.jpgWalter Ray Williams Jr., PBA's all-time titles leader, recently returned from a trip to China where he helped friend Frank Zhao, the founder and president of Longmarch Bowling, promote the opening of a new six-lane bowling center. The new center, located in the Bund district of Shanghai, is the fourth built by Zhao's organization in China. Longmarch is also turning its sights to the promotion of the sport at the competitive level with the hope of growing the sport professionally, according to Williams.

PBA champions Ryan Ciminelli, Jason Belmonte and Anthony Simonsen (l-r) – three of the four nominees for the "Best Bowler" ESPY award – attended the event. Belmonte won the ESPY for the second year in a row and the third time overall.

The event features a pair of PBA Tour title events – the PBA Xtra Frame South Point Las Vegas Open and the five-player PBA Team Challenge. Both events will be covered live from start-to-finish by Xtra Frame. Entries for the PBA World Series of Bowling VIII, set for Nov. 27-Dec. 11 at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, will open on Monday, July 18.

The question was answered in front of a crowd of more than 1,000 bowling proprietors and industry leaders during International Bowl Expo at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas Tuesday.

The PBA Xtra Frame Lubbock Sports Open may have received a boost from International Bowl Expo, the annual multi-event bowling industry trade show and educational showcase that is set to get underway in Las Vegas this weekend. A number of PBA stars, including international stars Dom Barrett and Jason Belmonte, will compete in the tournament this weekend before heading to Las Vegas to make appearances at the Bowl Expo trade show for the bowling ball companies next week.

Tackett now has 53 points and a nine-point lead over Ryan Ciminelli and Jonesboro Open winner Tommy Jones, who are tied for second with 44 points. Sean Rash is fourth with 31 points.

Fans following the PBA50 Tour's first major championship of the year will be watching to see if PBA Hall of Famer and defending champion Pete Weber can make more history.

Anderson, who made his PBA debut as a celebrity guest in the Chris Paul PBA Celebrity Invitational in Los Angeles in January, is serious about bowling and reportedly has been practicing diligently with guidance from PBA competitors, including fellow Denver area PBA member Brett Cooper.

In head-to-head duels on national television, Williams (l.) has beaten Weber (r.) nine times in 11 matches. Lesser known is the competition between the two that began more than 35 years ago.

As the winner of the first tournament in the Xtra Frame PBA Tour series, Ciminelli earned 25 points. The next event in the series is the PBA Xtra Frame Storm Open April 23-24 at Liberty Lanes in Carpentersville, Ill. First prize is a guaranteed $10,000.

In addition to the $2,500 first place check, Guerrero joined California's Missy Parkin as the second woman to win three PBA Regional titles.

2016PBA01AnthonySimonsen4_small.jpgAnthony Simonsen of Princeton, Texas, has added a berth on Team USA 2016 to his rapidly expanding resumé of accomplishments. The 19-year-old two-handed competitor, who earned a spot on Junior Team USA at the USBC Team USA Trials in January, has been added to the adult Team USA roster in the wake of his victory in the USBC Masters in February and winning his first PBA Tour title in the Mark Roth/Marshall Holman PBA Doubles Championship to kick off the PBA Tour's 2016 schedule.
