Yoan Alix wins Chandra Open; Lisanne Breeschoten claims women's ranking title

    Osku Palermaa regains lead in European Bowling Tour Men's Ranking

    2010EBT11YoanAlix.jpg2011EBT11StuartWilliams.jpgYoan Alix (pictured left) of France averaged over 240 in the last six-game block of the Chandra Open 2011 en route to win his first European Bowling Tour title and the 5.000 Euro top prize.

    Starting the third and last round of the finals in seventh place, the French national team member fired games of 240, 213, 246, 243, 256 and 247 for a 1445 series to jump into first place with 2766 total and an average of 230.50 for 12 games.

    Stuart Williams (right), England, used the second-best 1375 series to move from fourth to second place with 2715, worth 3.000 Euro.

With his third -place finish the two-hander regained the lead in the EBT men's ranking.

    Fourth place belonged to Lisanne Breeschoten (right), Netherlands, who leaped four spots behind a 1374 series including 48 pins handicap and 2659 total.

    Rounding out the top 8 were Alexander Medveditskov (5th; 2541), Paul Moor, England (6th; 2602), Tina Stickney, United States (7th; 2582) and Paul Stott Jr., Ireland (2521).

    Reigning EBT ranking champion Dominic Barrett, England, missed the third cut to finish in 13th place while Thomas Larsen, Denmark, lost his lead in the current EBT ranking due to a 25th place finish.

    2011ChandraOpenLogo.jpg The Chandra Open is a newcomer on the European Bowling Tour and will be held Sept. 19-25, 2011 at 16-lane Chandra Bowling in Nieuwegein, Netherlands, The tournament is the 16th stop of the 2011 Tour and the fifth out of six EBT "Satellite" tournaments this season.

    The tournament offers total prize fund of 24.600 Euro with 5.000 Euro going to the winner and 3.000 Euro to the runner-up, while the third and fourth place finishers will receive 2.000 Euro and 1.000, respectively.

    Since the English Open has lost its EBT status, the 2011 European Bowling Tour consists of 20 tour stops in 16 countries including two Platinum, six Gold, six Silver and six Satellite tournaments.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament such as the Chandra Open gets 50 ranking points.

    The top 16 men and the top 16 women at the end of the 2011 season qualify for the fifth EBT Masters to be held at Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring near Munich, Germany on April 30 and May 1, 2012. The event will become the first EBT Masters to be contested on single lane condition.

    Qualifying of the Chandra Open (six-game series, unlimited re-entries) ran from Monday, Sept. 19 through Saturday, Sept. 24. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game throughout the entire event, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.

    A total of 38 players advanced to the finals on Sunday, Sept. 25 - the top 30 players from the overall qualifying standings plus the top 4 from a separate leader board of Squad 1-3, and the top 4 from the Desperado Squad. The top 6 qualifiers earned one bye.

    The other 32 players bowled six games starting from scratch with the top 10 advancing to the second round. The top 10 from Round One and the top six qualifiers bowled six games starting from scratch to cut to the top 8.

    Those eight bowled another six-game block with the pinfall from Round Two being carried forward. The player with the highest 12-game total was declared the winner.
