The penultimate tournament in the 2011 season featured 339 players - 287 men and 52 women - from 15 countries, registered a total of 883 entries (entry fee was 60 to 90 Euro; re-entry 40 to 70 Euro), and paid out 27.700 Euro including extra prizes.

As the No. 10 seed in qualifying, Boccato bypassed the first two rounds of the finals and was seeded 10th in the first round of single-elimination match play (third round overall). He survived a low-scoring encounter in the Round of 24 against No. 23 Saverio Tuccimei, Italy, 338-320.

2011EBT10PaulStott.jpg2011EBT04NicoleSanders6.jpgDue to an error in the seeding, Boccato clashed with qualifying leader Diego Biolghini, Italy (who should have bowled No. 24 seed Petri Keituri, Finland) in the Round of 16 and ousted the top seed, 383-311. Boccato was pitted with Keituri in the Quarterfinal ousting the Finn, 413-369.

In the semifinal against Paul Stott Jr., the No. 3 seed, Boccato topped the Irishman 197-170.

Rodriguez, who finished qualifying in seventh place, earned three byes and entered the finals in the Round of 16 as the No. 7 seed. The Spaniard eliminated defending champion Perttu Jussila, Finland, 434-405, and then ousted the last remaining woman, Nicole Sanders (above right), Netherlands, in the quarterfinal, 457-416. Sanders, who received eight pins handicap each game, won the women's ranking in Rome.

2011EBT19MarcoReviglio.jpgRodriguez cruised to a 243-214 victory over No. 6 seeded Marco Reviglio, Italy, in the semifinals to set up a title match with Boccato.

Rodriguez earned 2.500 Euro for second place while the semifinal losers, Stott and Reviglio, pocketed 1.000 Euro each. As the positions were determined by the seeding, Stott (No. 3) should be third and Reviglio (No. 6) fourth.
