The Englishman, who missed the first half of the season due to injury, was down by three pins after the first game and rebounded with a 22-pin win, 237-215, to seal his second victory on the Tour this season.

201112PBAOskuPalermaa.jpg201112PBAMikeFagan.jpgKoivuniemi, who was the point ranking leader of the 2011 World Bowling Tour and was looking for his third title this season, received 14.400 Euro. The "Big Finn" finished second in the 2011 EBT point ranking, trailing only to compatriot Osku Palermaa (left), who won the men's ranking for the fourth time in his career after 2007-09. Barrett finished fourth in the ranking.

Palermaa, who finished fifth in Qatar, missed the playoffs by a whisker finishing Final Round Two tied with two-time PBA champion Mike Fagan (right), United States.. Fagan took the fourth and last place for the playoffs due to the higher last game, 242 to 226.

In his semifinal match, Fagan faced nine-time PBA champion Koivuniemi, who rolled a 300 game en route to take the No. 1 seed. Koivuniemi took a 67-pin lead after the first game, 246-179, and never looked back. He won the second game by seven pins to advance to the title match, 490-416.

201112PBASeanRash.jpg2011WWCMaiGingeJensen2.jpgSecond seeded Barrett took on the No. 3, four-time PBA champion Sean Rash (left), United States, in the other semifinal match. Barrett took a commanding 75-pin lead after game one, 267-192, and cruised to a 512-419 victory with a 245-227 win in game two.

Rash and Fagan pocketed 5.000 Euro each for third and fourth place. Eight players, who bowled in the PBA World Series of Bowling earlier this month, finished atop the leader board in the Qatar Bowling Open.

All Events World Champion Mai Ginge Jensen (right), Denmark, was the top ranked woman in 10th place to win the women's ranking in Qatar for the second consecutive year. However, with only five women participating, the 2011 Qatar Bowling Open had the lowest number of female bowlers ever in the 12-year history of the European Bowling Tour.

2011WWCJolinePerssonPlanefors2.jpg Jensen finished the 2011 EBT women's ranking in second place trailing only to Joline Persson-Planefors (right), Sweden, who won the EBT point ranking for the first time in her career.

A total of 48 players - the top 36 in the overall qualifying standings, the top 2 of the Nov. 23rd squads, the top 3 each of the Nov. 24 and 25 squads, plus the top 4 from the Desperado Squad - advanced to the finals on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011.

The top 9 qualifiers earned one bye. The remaining 39 players bowled six games scratch with the top 19 advancing to the second round. Those 19 and the nine qualifying leaders rolled another six-game block scratch to cut to the top 4, who advanced to the semifinals.

The No. 1 bowled No. 4 and the No. 2 bowled No. 2 with the two-game total pinfall determining the winner. The two semifinal winners bowled for the title and the 30.000 Euro top prize.
