Chris Barnes earns the No. 1 seed for the USBC Masters stepladder finals

    Fagan, MacLelland, B. Smith to join Barnes in ESPN live telecast Sunday, Jan. 29 at 12:30 p.m. EST

    201112PBAChrisBarnes.jpg201112PBAMikeFagan.jpgChris Barnes (pictured left) of Double Oak, Texas, rolled an 806 series including a 300 game en route to earn the No. 1 seed for the stepladder finals of the 2012 USBC Masters, which will be broadcasted live on ESPN Sunday, Jan. 29 at 12:30 p.m. Eastern.

    Barnes was the lone undefeated player in the double-elimination match play finals after defeating Mike Fagan (right) of Dallas in the finals of the winners bracket, 806-743, over three games total pinfall. Fagan earned the No. 2 seed.

    In the opening match of the TV finals, Canadian Dan MacLelland and 2003 Masters champion Bryon Smithof Roseburg, Ore., will square off.

    201011PBADanMacLelland.jpg201011PBABryonSmith.jpgIn the final round of the losers bracket, MacLelland (left) defeated Chris Warren of Grants Pass, Ore., 746-690, while Smith (right) came back from a 29-pin deficit after two games to beat Chris Loschetter, Avon, Ohio, 660-625. MacLelland was seeded third and Smith fourth based on their average in match play.

    The USBC Masters champion will earn $50,000 with $25,000 going to second place, $15,000 to third place and $10,000 to fourth place.

    The USBC Masters is the tenth event of the 2011-12 PBA season and one of four majors on the PBA Tour. The tournament also is the second event of the 2012 World Bowling Tour and one of three tournaments which take place at Sunset Station in Las Vegas in a span of two weeks.
