In the Boys division Hwang Dong-Jun, Choi Tae-Seung, Ryu Ji-Hoon and Cha In-Ho turned in an outstanding performance and left Egypt with all five gold medals plus one silver and four bronze.

Choi led the medal tally with four gold medals and one bronze in the five disciplines. He and his teammates won the gold medals in Team, Doubles, Singles and Masters. The bronze medal came in All Events which was won by Hwang.

The remaining five medals were split between Philippines (two silver medals), Kuwait (one silver and one bronze), and Japan (one silver).

In the Girls Division, Kang Su-Jin, Son Hye-Rin, Lim So-Hyun and Hwang Yeon-Ju won all but the gold medal in Masters and added three silver and two bronze medals to the Korean medal haul.

Kang led the medal tally with three gold medals in Team, Singles and All Events and a silver medal in Doubles and a bronze medal in Masters. Alexis Sy of the Philippines defeated Son in the Masters final, 493-389, to deny Korea a clean sweep of the gold medals.

The Filipinas also had two silver and one bronze medal. The Japanese girls took home the remaining two bronze medals.

Only 50 youth bowlers - 32 boys from eight countries (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Macau, Philippines, Qatar and Egypt) and 18 girls from five countries (Japan, Korea, Macau, Philippines and Egypt) - competed in the 16th edition of the Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships.

This was the lowest number of participants since 1983 and the third-lowest in the history of Asia's premier youth bowling event. The Asian Bowling Federation (ABF) currently has 39 member federations.
