California Women's Bowling Association past president Betty Schlegel passes

Betty Schlegel (pictured) had just turned 90 years old and she was eagerly awaiting bowling in her 42nd national tournament when she was confronted with a series of health challenges.
After a stay in the hospital and re-hab she felt well enough to go home and continue working on her strengthening exercises so she could make it to Reno to bowl. Last year she received an award from the California USBC for having bowled in 60 state tournaments.
An avid sportswoman, sadly, on June 24th Betty passed away. As President, she left a legacy of structure for future leaders of the California Women's Bowling Association. She was definitely in charge and had her finger on everything she was responsible for.
She had been a professional baseball player playing for the Fresno Bombers in earlier years and then turned to bowling where she also excelled. Although she never succumbed to the computer world she was always eager for any news of bowling.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Gold Country Lanes in Sutter Creek on the 28th of July. The address is 81 Ridge. All are welcome.
