Jesse Kallio shoots 1702 six-game series in Jyväskylä, Finland

20120823JesseKallio1702.jpgFormer Finnish youth national team member Jesse Kallio (pictured) of bowling club Pori Giants cracked the magic 1700-bar for six games Monday, Aug. 23, at Pupuhuhta bowling center in Jyväskylä, Finland. Kallio totaled 1702, an average of 283.67.

Kallio struck on 63 out of total 67 shots, a 94.03 strike percentage, and spared in four frames - three single-pin conversions and one two-pin conversion. Of course, no open frames. His high game was 300 (twice) and his "low" game was 268.

He started his strike fest with games of 278, 300, 278, 268 and 278 for 1402 after five games (280.40 average). Though he was almost a perfect game away from the magical 1700, Kallio told his team mates, he could make it. And he did.

He finished with twelve strikes in a row for his second 300 game of the day and a personal-best 1702 series. However, this is not a new Finnish record: Toni Laine was five pins better when he posted a 1707 series in 2007.

Kallio wasn't the only one, who achieved perfection that day at Pupuhuhta as young Miikka Poutiainen managed his first career 300-game.
