2006USBCWomensChampionshipLogo.jpg With defending United States Bowling Congress Queens champion Tennelle Milligan, the Barry Asher's Embroidery team of Costa Mesa, Calif., moved into the Classic Division Team lead Wednesday in the USBC Women's Championships presented by the Eldorado, Silver Legacy and Circus Circus.

Milligan and teammates Missy Bellinder, Maxine Nable, Lisa Pawlak and Jennelle Jellsey combined for a 3,154 total.

Milligan and Nable are hoping for their third Classic Team title with their previous wins coming, ironically enough, in Reno in 2003 and 2000. Bellinder and Pawlak were also members of the 2003 championship team.

"I think the key to our success is that we come in with the right frame of mind and have fun," said Milligan, who was also a three-time member of Team USA and won three majors on the PWBA Tour. "We just have good chemistry and enjoy bowling together."

The team was led by former Team USA members Bellinder and Pawlak, who both rolled a 659 series, followed by Milligan, 630; Nable, 619; and Jellsey, 587.

Milligan, who will compete in the USBC Queens, which begins at the National Bowling Stadium on June 17, was worried about competing in the Women's Championships and the Queens because of a recurring back problem.

"About two weeks ago I could barely get out of bed," Milligan said. "I have a problem with my sciatic nerve and I never know when it's going to flare up. For the last week I've been working with a chiropractor and a massage therapist so right now I feel pretty good. I have to take it a day at a time."

Nable, a former PWBA Tour player and a three-year member of Team Australia, and Bellinder will also compete in the Queens.

The Classic Team leaderboard underwent a facelift Wednesday night with second through fifth place changes. The High Rollers of Henderson, Nev., moved into second just four pins behind with 3,150; followed by Bowlingball Dot Com, Orlando, Fla., 3,083; Bowlingball Dot Com II, Jacksonville, Fla., 3,067; and Mass Strikes, Annapolis, Md., 3,055.

Franklin, Wis. bowler takes lead in Classic Singles

Gina Daroszewski of Franklin, Wis., moved into the USBC Women's Championships Classic Singles lead Thursday with a 720 series on games of 245, 217 and 258. Looking for her third Women's Championships title, the 35-year-old Daroszewski had previously won Classic Team titles in 2002 and 2004.

Daroszewski credited making a shot adjustment after team and doubles competition for her performance in singles.

"I was playing the gutter (outside of the lane) and wasn't getting the ball reaction I wanted," Daroszewski said. "I was watching some other bowlers on the squad and noticed they were getting a better reaction around third arrow so that's where I moved."

Daroszewski is the wife of four-time USBC Open Championships titlist Gary Daroszewski, and together they are proprietors of Classic Lanes in Greenfield, Wis.

"I'm trying my best to catch him," Daroszewski said. "I don't know if this score is going to hold up, but we'll see."
