Federico Rossi (pictured left) and Diego Biolghini (right) of Italy led Monday's squads 11 and 12 (10 has been cancelled) en route to move into the top 10 in the overall qualifying standings of the 1st Florence International currently underway at Crazy Bowling in Florence, Italy.

Rossi, a long-time Italian national team member, started Squad 11 with a 259 game and added five games between 211 and 187 to move into seventh place with 1247 total. Biolghini used high games of 244 and 235 in Squad 12 to overtake Rossi by three pins with 1250. Rossi slipped to eighth place.

Saverio Tuccimei (left) of Italy continued to lead the field of 153 players from six countries with 1373 total and an average of 228.73. Stavros Parasakis of Greece is the only other player who surpassed the 1300-mark in second place with 1337 (222.83).

Alessandra Morra (right) of Italy is the best of 16 women in the field in 21st place with 1180 including 48 pins handicap. Maja Debenec of Slovenia is 22nd with 1177 and Paola Andreello of Italy is the third woman in the top 38 with 1155, good for 36th place.

With 12 out of 30 qualifying squads in the books, Giancarlo Gazza of Italy holds 38th and last place to advance with 1152 or an average of 192.

Qualifying continues Tuesday, Nov. 6 with Squads 13-15 scheduled for 2, 5.30 and 9 p.m. CET.

The Florence International is the 18th and penultimate event of the 2012 European Bowling Tour and the last of seven EBT "Satellite" tournaments this season. Players will compete for total prize fund of 29.960 Euro with 5.500 € going to the winner while the runner-up receives 2.800 €.

The qualifying of the Florence International runs from Saturday, Nov. 3 through Saturday, Nov. 10 and concludes with Squad 30 scheduled for 6.30 p.m. local time (CET). Women receive 8 pins handicap each game, a standard on the European Bowling Tour.

A total of 50 players will qualify for the finals on Sunday, Nov. 11:

• the top 38 players from the overall qualifying standings
• four players each from the leader boards of Nov. 3-4 squads and Nov. 5-7 squads
• and the top 4 of the one-game Desperado Squad

The top 8 qualifiers receive three byes, players in 9th to 16th place earn two byes and places 17 to 30 bypass the first round of the finals. The remaining 20 players bowl four games scratch with the top 10 meeting the qualifiers 17-30 in Round 2. The top 8 advance to the first round of single-elimination match play.

In each round the highest seeded player meets the lowest seeded player, the second highest player meets the second lowest player etc. All matches are two-games, total pins format. The field will be trimmed to 16, 8, 4 and then two players, who will determine the champion.

The 2012 European Bowling Tour is made up of 19 events in 16 countries including two Platinum, four Gold, six Silver and seven Satellite tournaments.

The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event earn ranking points based on how they finish in the event. The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament such as the Florence International gets 50 ranking points.

Those points will be tabulated throughout the season to determine the top 16 men and top 16 women who will compete in the sixth EBT Masters in Bratislava, Slovakia in Sept. 2013.
