Bill O'Neill comes from behind to win Alka Seltzer Plus Cold Cheetah Championship

Bill O’Neill (pictured left) of Langhorne, Pa. defeated three opponents en route to win the Alka Seltzer Plus Cold Cheetah Championship, Saturday at South Point Exhibition Hall in Las Vegas, Nev., for his fourth career PBA title.
The multiple World and PABCON Championships gold medalist, who charged out of 16th and last qualifying spot at the start of the six-game semifinal round to earn the fourth spot in the finals, rolled three consecutive 240-plus games on his way to the title.
In the opening match, O'Neill ousted Chris Loschetter (above right) of Avon, Ohio, 248-223. Loschetter, a 10-year veteran, who was trying to win his first title, pocketed $5,00 for fourth place.
O'Neill went on to defeat Jeff Roche (left) of Dearborn, Mich., in the semifinal match, 246-177. Roche, who was also trying for his first title in his ESPN debut, took $7,000 for third place.
In the championship match O'Neill defeated No. 1 seed and four-time PBA title winner Mike Wolfe (right) of New Albany, Ind., 243-192, to capture the $20,000 top prize. Wolfe, a 36-year-old 12-year PBA Tour veteran who was seeking his first PBA Tour title in four years, received $10,000 for second place.
The ESPN stepladder final which was conducted on Saturday, Nov. 10, in the special arena setting in South Point’s Exhibition Hall area will air on Sunday, Dec. 16.
