Wu Siu Hong, Putty Armein earn No. 1 seeds for 2012 ABFT Tournament of Champions finals

    Men's and women's field is down to the top players who will determine the champions in single-elimination bracket finals on Tuesday

    2012ABFTToCWuSiuHong.jpgWu Siu Hong (pictured left) of Hong Kong and Indonesia's Putty Armein led the men's and women's qualifying at the 2012 ABF Tour Tournament of Champions to earn the No. 1 seed in Tuesday's single-elimination bracket finals at Cozmo Bowling Center in Salmiya, Kuwait.

    Siu Hong, a two-time ABFT TOC winner and the defending champion, averaged 233.2 for the ten-game round including high games of 290, 257 and 256 to lead the top eight men into the finals. He will take on fifth-place Andrew Frawley (2187) of Australia in the Round of 8.

The 2012 Asian Championships All Events gold medalist bowls multiple Asian point ranking winner Hussain Al-Suwaidi, UAE, who took the eighth and last place to advance with 2112.

    Yannaphon's compatriot Badin Lerdpiriyasakulkut (right) was third with 2245 and takes on seventh-place Shaker Al-Hassan (2121), UAE. The last match in the Round of 8 features Mohammed Janahi of Bahrain, who was fourth with 2245, and 2012 Macau leg champion, Rickle Kam of Hong Kong, who posted the highest game of the day (297) to help grab sixth place with 2142.

    2012ABFTToCPuttyArmeinSharonLimansantoso.jpgIn the women's division, multiple Asian Championships gold medalist, Putty Armein (left) of Indonesia averaged 221.5 over ten games to lead the field of 16 players from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia and Thailand with 2215 total. Armein meets 2012 ABF Tour point ranking leader Julia Lam (6th, 2033) of Macau in the opening round.

    Armein's fellow countrywoman, 2011 TOC champion, Sharon Limansantoso (right), was second with 2186 and received former Asian point ranking winner Chan Shuk Han (5th, 2038), Hong Kong, in the draw for the first round.

    2012ABFTToCMilkiNg.jpgMilki Ng (pictured right) of Hong Kong was third with 2080 and will clash with Chantanee Sarnswang of Thailand, who hit the cutoff number for eighth place with 1985.

    In the fourth and last match, fourth-place Angkana Netvriseth of Thailand (2054) and 2008 TOC champion Tang Joh Six (7th, 1987) of Malaysia will square off.

    The men's and women's single-elimination bracket finals feature one-game matches. The winners advance and the losers will be eliminated. The men's champion will receive the US$20,000 top prize while the women's champion will walk away with US$10,000.
