Norway's Björn Einar Rudshagen wins his first EBT title in Bowltech Aalborg International 2013

    2013EBT04BjonEinarRudshagen.jpgNorwegian national team member Björn Einar Rudshagen (pictured left) averaged 232.60 over ten games en route to claim his first European Bowling Tour title in the Bowltech Aalborg International 2013 Sunday at Lovvang Bowling Center in Aalborg, Denmark.

    The European champion and multiple Norwegian champion became the fourth Norwegian EBT champion in the 14-year history of the Tour after Tore Torgersen (3), Petter Hansen (2) and Svein Roger Olsen (1). He pocketed 5.000 Euro for accomplishing the feat.

    The Bowltech Aalborg International 2013 drew 154 players, 113 men and 41 women, from nine countries.

    2013EBT05DanielFransson.jpgRudshagen led the top eight players into a final four-game round with the six-game total of Round Three carried over. Daniel Fransson (right) of Sweden took the lead with games of 279 and 223, but Rudshagen regained the lead in the penultimate game with 246 to Fransson's 168. The Norwegian wrapped up the title with 208 and 2326 total for ten games.

    2013EBT02DennisEklund.jpgFransson rebounded with a 221 final game to finish in second place with 2274, worth 3.500 Euro. His compatriots Dennis Eklund (left) and Mattias Olsson posted 2229 and 2218 to receive 2.500 Euro and 2.000 Euro for third and fourth place, respectively.

    2012EBT17BrittBrondsted2.jpgMartin Klitte was the best Danish bowler in sixth place with 2084 (1.600 Euro). Former World Ranking Masters champion Britt Brøndsted (right) repeated as women's ranking champion in Aalborg finishing in 11th place. It was the 17th time that Brøndsted finished an EBT event as the top ranked woman including one EBT title (2004 Brunswick Euro Challenge).

    The Bowltech Aalborg International 2013 was the sixth stop of the 2013 European Bowling Tour and the second out of four EBT "silver" events this season. The tournament was held from Monday, May 20 through Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Lovvang Bowling Center a 30-laner in Aalborg, Denmark.

    Players competed for total prize money of 40.000 Euro with 5.000 Euro going to the winner, 3.500 Euro to the runner-up and 2.500 to the third place finisher.

    Qualifying (6 games, unlimited re-entries) ran through Saturday, May 25, with the final Squad 11 slated for 7.00 p.m. CEST. Qualifying concluded with the one-game Desperado Squad scheduled for 10 p.m. Women received 8 pins handicap each game, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.

    The tournament was contested on a 38 ft. Oil Pattern (PDF file) with 24.816 ml volume oil total.

    The top 30 players from the overall qualifying standings plus the top three players of Squads 1-3 and the top two players of Squads 4-5 (not among the top 30) as well as the top three of the Desperado Squad advanced to the finals on Sunday, May 26. The top eight qualifiers enjoyed a two-round bye while qualifiers 9-18 got a first-round bye.

    The first two rounds of the finals, each consisting of four games scratch trimmed the field to 28 and then 18 players. Those 18 bowled six games scratch in Round 3 with the top eight advancing to the final Round 4. Round 3 pinfall carried over.

    The remaining eight players bowled another four games. The player with the highest 10-game total including handicap was declared the winner.

    2013EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2013 European Bowling Tour consists of 19 tournaments in 13 countries including two Platinum, six Gold, four Silver and seven Satellite events.

    The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament such as the Bowltech Aalborg International 2013 earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament gets 50 ranking points.

    The top 12 men and the top 12 women at the end of the 2013 season qualify for the seventh EBT Masters to be held March 3, 2014 at Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg, Netherlands immediately following the EBT Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2014.

    The European Bowling Tour remains in Denmark for the Odense International May 26 - June 2, 2013 at Odense Bowling Center in Odense.

    Bowltech Aalborg International 2013 - Standings after Qualifying and Desperado Squad


    The top 30 qualifiers plus the top three players of Squads 1-3 (places 31-33) and the top two players of Squads 4-5 (places 34 & 35) plus the top three of the Desperado Squad (places 36-38) advanced to the finals. The top eight qualifiers received two byes. Qualifiers 9-18 got a first-round bye.
