Daria Kovalova, Osku Palermaa lead as Singles Qualifying wraps up at World Games

Qualifying in the men's and women's Singles event wrapped up Saturday at the 2013 World Games, but with all pins being dropped headed into round-robin match play, any of the remaining players still have a chance to reach the stepladder finals.
Osku Palermaa (pictured left) of Finland easily led the men's field with 4375, an average of 243.06, while Norway's Mads Sandbækken qualified second with 4281. Canada's Dan MacLelland took the third spot with 4243.
The other players who qualified for match play in the men's division were Korea's Hwang Dongjun, Venezuela's Amleto Monacelli, Mexico's Alejandro Cruz, Colombia's Santiago Mejia, Germany's Pascal Winternheimer, Team USA's Mike Fagan and Chinese Taipei's Cheng Hsing-Chao.

On the women's side, Ukrainian Daria Kovalova (left) finished qualifying with 4068 and a 226 average to pace the field. Colombia's Clara Juliana Guerrero (right) was second with 3959, while Malaysia's Esther Cheah was third with 3937.
The other players who qualified were Venezuela's Karen Marcano, Singapore's Geraldine Ng, Mexico's Sandra Gongora, Finland's Sanna Pasanen, Team USA's Kelly Kulick, the Dominican Republic's Aumi Guerra and Canada's Lynne Gauthier.
The remaining players will bowl 10 games of round robin match play Sunday morning before cutting to the top three men and top three women for the stepladder finals.
