Starting the final round in fourth place, the Swedish national team member and 2012 European Champions Cup winner rolled games of 236 and 235 to take an 11-pin lead over Norway's Svein Åke Ek (right) heading into the last game.

Finishing first on the challenging lane condition, Gruffman finished with 182 for 1355, an average of 225.83 for six games. Ek, who won the ECC in 2010, needed a strike to win or spare-strike to tie the Swede.

The Swede pocketed 35.000 NOK or approx. 4.315 Euro for his first career European Bowling Tour title while Ek received 20.000 NOK (2.465 Euro) as the first runner-up.

Finnish two-hander Osku Palermaa (right), who owns record 13 EBT titles, finished in third place worth 15.000 NOK.

The Norwegian Open 2014 by Brunswick, an EBT Satellite event, will be held from Oct. 3-10, 2014.

2013NorwegianOpenLogo.jpg The Norwegian Open 2013 by Brunswick was the 16th stop of the 2013 European Bowling Tour and the fifth out of seven EBT "Satellite" events this season. The tournament was held from Oct. 4-13, 2013 at 26-lane Veitvet Bowling Center in Oslo, Norway.

As a result of a sponsorship agreement with Brunswick, the NO 2013 has increased the total prize fund to 224.000 NOK (currently 27.625 Euro).

Qualifying ran from Friday, Oct. 4 through Saturday, Oct. 12. Women received 8 pins handicap each game, a standard on the European Bowling Tour. In a change for 2013 the last qualifying squad on Saturday evening was replaced by two semifinal rounds and the top 60 instead of the top 40 players cashed.

A total of 60 players advanced to the finals on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12 & 13. The top 8 qualifiers are qualified for Round 4, places 9-16 go to Round 3, places 17-24 start in Round 2 and places 25-28 begin in Round 1. The other 32 finalists advanced to Saturday's Semifinal Round 1 which began at 10 p.m. CEST.

The top 24 players after three game scratch advanced to the Semifinal Round 2 to bowl another three games with the pinfall carried over. The top 12 qualified for Final Round 1 on Sunday morning.

The remaining forty players determined the champion in five three-game rounds. The field was trimmed from 40 to 32, 24, 16, and then eight who bowled a final three-game block with the pinfall from Round 4 carried forward.

The player with the highest six-game total was declared the champion and earned an EBT title, 50 ranking points and the 35.000 NOK top prize.

2013EBTLogo_small.jpg The 2013 European Bowling Tour consists of 19 stops in 13 countries including two Platinum, six Gold, four Silver and seven Satellite tournaments.

The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament earns 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament such as the Norwegian Open 2013 by Brunswick gets 50 ranking points.

The top 12 men and the top 12 women at the end of the 2013 season qualify for the seventh EBT Masters to be held March 3, 2014 at Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg, Netherlands immediately following the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2014.

The European Bowling Tour commences with Brunswick Etna Open at Bowling La Plaja in Catania, Italy, from Oct. 12-20, 2013.
