Korea dominates Senior Masters at 12th Asian Seniors Tenpin Bowling Championship

    Australia and Japan win Masters gold in men's and women's Grand Senior Division

    2013AsSrCSeniorMenMasters.jpg Korean bowlers dominated the Masters competition which concluded the 12th Asian Seniors Tenpin Bowling Championship in Sydney, Australia.

    Ho Hui Jae (pictured left, center) averaged 234.81 for 16 games and received 110 pins bonus for winning eleven of his 16 matches in round robin match play to capture the gold medal in Senior Men Masters with 3867 total.

    2013AsSrCSeniorWomenMasters.jpgHis compatriot Jang Seon Myeon was 179 pins behind to take silver with 3688. Mick Talevski of Australia, who has won gold in Singles, Teams and All Events and silver in Doubles, finished third with 3650 to earn his fifth medal in the championships in as many events.

    Korean bowlers swept the medals in Senior Women Masters. Lee Hwa Ja (right, center) cruised to the title with 3464 total including 110 bonus, an average of 209.63 to sweep all five gold medal in the Senior Women division.

    Kim Gwi Nam was second with 3369 and Kim Myo Seon third with 3362.

    2013AsSrCGSMenMasters.jpgThe Aussies dominated the Masters event in the Grand Senior Men division. Doubles champion John Sullivan (left, second from left), who got five pins handicap each game, averaged over 220 and won 10 matches on the way to win the gold medal with 3713 total.

    Robert Zikman, gold medalist in All-Events, took silver with 3689 while Kevin Webb got bronze with 3658.

    2013AsSrCGSWomenMasters.jpgOn the Grand Senior Women's side, Singles, Teams and All-Events champion Junko Kuji (right, center) of Japan won her fourth gold of the Championships averaging 220.81 for 16 games. Kuji added 90 pins bonus to her 3533 pinfall to claim the title with 3459 total.

    Trailing Kuji by 34 pins to take the silver medal was Sarah Knowland of Australia, with 3425. Kazumi Koike, Japan, in third with 3358.

    2013AsSrCLogo_small.jpgThe 12th Asian Seniors Championship attracted 159 players ran from November 14-21 at 34-lane AMF Rooty Hill RSL bowling center in Sydney, Australia and attracted 159 players from Guam, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, The Philippines and host country Australia.

    52 bowlers (31 men and 21 women) competed in the Senior Division (50 & over) and 107 bowlers competed in the Grand Senior Division (60 & over) for gold, silver and bronze medals in the in men's and women's Singles, Doubles, four-player Teams, All-Events and Masters.
