Bjørn Einar Rudshagen averages over 250 to win single-elimination finals in Bucharest

    Norwegian defeats three opponents to capture the title and the 2.500 Euro top prize in the 4th IDM Bucharest International Bowling Open

    2013EBT14BjornEinarRudshagen.jpg2013EBT04GiannisStathatos2.jpgBjørn Einar Rudshagen (pictured left) of Norway averaged 250.43 in the single-elimination finals of the 4th IDM Bucharest International Bowling Open en route to claim the title and the 2.500 Euro top prize Sunday at IDM Club in Bucharest, Romania.

    In the title match in best-of-three games format, Rudshagen defeated Giannis Stathatos (right) of Greece in two games, 279-257 and 246-222.

    Rudshagen, who entered the single-eliminations finals in sixth position, rolled games of 256 and 247 to sweep No. 2 Barry Foley (below left) of Ireland in the semifinals, 2-0.

    2013EBT16BarryFoley2.jpg20120314BrianVoss.jpgFifth-seeded Stathatos, who averaged 239.57 over seven head-to-head games, ousted No. 8 seed, PBA Hall of Famer Brian Voss (right), United States, in the other semifinal match, 245-215 and 237-202.

    Stathatos received 1.500 Euro for second place while Foley and Voss, who eliminated No. 1 seed, Oleksandr Kondratyev of Ukraine in the opening round, 2-0, including a 289 game, received 1.000 Euro apiece for third and fourth place, respectively.

    The 4th IDM Bucharest International Bowling Open ran from November 18-24, 2013 at 14-lane IDM Club in Bucharest, Romania and drew 81 players from eleven countries. 24 players survived the qualifying cut.

    Players ranked 9-24 bowled six games scratch with the top 8 advancing to the second round to meet qualifiers 1-8 in another six-game round after which the field was trimmed to the top 8, who determined the champion in single-elimination best-of-three games finals in bracket system.
