Daegu City sweeps the titles in Men's and Women's Doubles In Tamuning, Guam

    Paranaque men and Tamuning women victorious in Senior Division

    2013AIBCMenDoubles.jpgThe men's and women's bowlers from Daegu City continued to dominate the Adult Division of the 27th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship.

    As in Singles, the South Koreans swept the gold medals in Doubles on the second day of competition Monday at Central Lanes in Tamuning, Guam.

    Singles gold and silver medalists Choi Suk Byung and Kim Young Pyo (left photo, center) teamed to win the men's doubles with 2468 and an average of 205.67. Choi led the way with 1255 and Kim contributed 1213. Choi leads the 43-player field in All-Events after 12 of 18 games with 2544 (212.00).

    JD Castro and Jay Leon Guerrero from the host city Tamuning joined forces to win the silver medal with 2416. Bronze went to Joshua Chow and Mike Chan of Hong Kong, who toppled 2367 pins.

    2013AIBCWomenDoubles.jpgSouth Korea's Choi Ae Rim and Bae Sung Hee (shown right, center) outaveraged their nearest competitor by more than 18 pins to cruise to the women's Doubles title with 2522 total and an average of 210.17.

    Singles bronze medalist Bae had 1270 en route to overtake the lead in All-Events with 2486 (207.17). Choi added 1252.

    Singles silver medalist Cecilia Yap and team mate Lara Posadas took another silver medal for Paranaque, Philippines, with 2300 (191.67). Singles champion Shin Bo Hyun and Kim Hyung Lim finished third with 2276.

    2013AIBCSeniorMenDoubles.jpgParanaque's Dennis Ho and Gerry Tan (on the left, center) were the best of just five duos in the senior men's division winning the title with 2237 and an average of 186.42.

    Chuck Meno and Manny Torre of Dededo took silver with 2149, with Tamuning's Nestor Valencia and Singles gold medalist Jimmy Pinaula in third place on 2128.

    Pinaula continued to lead in All-Events with 2328 (194.00).

    2013AIBCSeniorWomenDoubles.jpgSenior women's Singles champion Mary Pangelinan captured her second gold medal when she teamed with Patricia Roberto (shown right, center) to win the Doubles competition with 2039 and an average of 169.92.

    Pangelinan also leads the 14-player field in All-Events with 2135 (177.92).

    Liza Or and Lucy Cheng of Paranaque were just 26 pins behind to take the silver medal with 2013. Yong Kim and Kathy Mandapat of Hagatna were further 20 pins behind in third place with 1993.

    Competition continues Tuesday and Wednesday, December 3 & 4, with the four-player team events, which also decide the medals in All-Events. The top 16 men and women and the top 8 senior men and senior women in All-Events will advance to the Masters competition, which will conclude the championship on Thursday, Dec. 5.

    2013AIBCLogo_small.jpg The 27th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship will be held from November 30 thru December 5, 2013 at Central Lanes in Tamuning, Guam.

    95 players from twelve cities participate in the event including Daegu, Dededo, Hagatna, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, New Territories, Pasay, Paranaque, Shah Alam, Saipan, Singapore and host Tamuning.

    43 men, 28 women, 10 senior men and 14 senior women compete for medals in Singles, Doubles, Teams, All-Events and Masters.
