27th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship comes to an end with Masters finals

Choi Suk Byung, Shin Bo Hyun win men's and women's titles to complete Daegu's gold medal sweep in the adult division; Hagatna's Buddy Saludo, Shah Alam's Hasnah Jamaluddin emerge as senior men's and women's champions
The top 16 men and women and the top 8 senior men and senior women in All-Events advanced to Masters match play in single-elimination, best-of-three games format. In each round the highest seeded player bowled the lowest seeded player, the second-highest bowled the second-lowest, and so on.
The men's and women's championship matches were an all-Daegu affair which secured the South Korean city a clean gold medal sweep in the adult division.
In the men's finale, top-seeded Choi Suk Byung defeated his compatriot Kim Young Pyo in two games, 245-198 and 201-194, to win his fifth gold medal in as many events.Kim, who won gold in Doubles and Team, silver in Singles and bronze in All-Events, earned silver, while semifinal losers Jay Leon Guerrero of Tamuning and Gregory Borja of Dededo shared the bronze medal. On the women's side, seventh seeded Shin Bo Hyun defeated the top 3 bowlers, all from Daegu, on her way to the women's Masters title.Shin went 6-0 in the first three rounds, defeating No. 10 Teliann San Nicolas, Tamuning, in the opening round, No. 2 Kim Hyung Lim in the quarterfinals and No. 1 Bae Sung Hee in the semifinals, before she came back from a 1-0 deficit to take down No. 3 Choi Ae Rim in the title match, 2-1.
It was the third gold medal of the championship for Shin after winning the titles in Singles and with the four-player Team. Choi got the silver medal. Bae and Paranaque's Lara Posadas received the bronze medals. The photo on the right shows the medalists.
Buddy Saludo of Hagatna won three matches to capture his third individual medal in this championship. In the title match, third-seeded Saludo topped No. 7 Manny Torre of Dededo, 167-152 and 191-178, to add the senior men's Masters gold to his bronze medals in Singles and All Events.Team champion Torre, who ousted his team mate, All-Events champion and No. 1 seed, Chuck Meno in the semifinals, received the silver medal. Torre and James Dela Cruz of Pasay shared bronze. The photo on the left shows the medalists.
Hasnah Jamaluddin of Shah Alam, seeded fourth, flew past Yong Kim of Hagatna, seeded third, 190-138 and 182-134, to win the gold medal in senior women's Masters and the first medal of this championship for Shah Alam.In the semifinals, Jamaluddin eliminated three-time gold medalist Mary Pangelinan of Tamuning, two-games-to-one including 191-152 win in the decider, while Yong swept No. 2 Liza Or of Paranaque, 2-0.
Yong received the silver medal. Bronze went to Pangelinan and Or. The photo on the right shows the medalists.
The 27th Asian Intercity Bowling Championship was held from November 30 thru December 5, 2013 at Central Lanes in Tamuning, Guam.95 players from eleven cities participated in the event including Daegu, Dededo, Hagatna, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, New Territories, Pasay, Paranaque, Shah Alam, Saipan, and host Tamuning.
43 men, 28 women, 10 senior men and 14 senior women competed for medals in Singles, Doubles, Teams, All-Events and Masters.
