Jassim Darwish (pictured) of Kuwait ended the 2014 Asian Bowling Federation (ABF) Tour with victory in the Saudi Arabia leg Tuesday, December 17, at Universal Bowling Center in Riyadh. In the title match, Darwish defeated Khaled Al-Doseri of Qatar, 201-186.

The top 16 Asian men in the 7th Kingdom International Open Bowling Championship qualified for the final leg of the 2013 ABF Tour.

In his opening match, Darwish eliminated UAE leg winner Mohamed Al-Saud, Saudi Arabia, 219-175, before he was able to weather a strong charge by UAE leg runner-up Anthony Balabbo, Philippines, 268-248, in the quarterfinals.

Darwish went on to defeat Kingdom International third place finisher, Yousif Falah, Bahrain, 247-221, to advance to the title match.

Al-Doseri survived a low-scoring Round of 16 match against Mohammad Al-Zaidan, Kuwait, 165-162, before he defeated Hong Kong bowlers Rickle Kam (223-161) and Michael Tsang (258-244) for the right to bowl Darwish for the title.

Darwish took a 23-pin lead after six frames thanks to a four-bagger, but Al-Doseri countered with three strikes in frames 7 thru 9 to overtake the lead heading into the last frame. Darwish, who had a split in the ninth frame, finished with a strike followed by another split.

When Al-Doseri got up, all he needed was a mark to wrap up the title. A foul and a six-count on the second ball by the Qatari handed the first Tour victory to the Kuwaiti on a silver plate.

The 2013 ABF Tour consisted of nine legs, five in the Middle East with a men's division only and four in East and South East Asia featuring men and women in separate divisions.

Players earned ranking points based on how they finish in each event. The top 16 men and the top 16 women qualified for the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions scheduled for March 16-17, 2014 in Kuwait.
