Shaker Al-Hassan (pictured with the trophy), UAE, defeated local favorite Mohammed Janahi, 200-199, to start the 2014 Asian Bowling Federation Tour with victory in the Bahrain leg Saturday at Ozone Entertainment Center in Sitra, Bahrain.

It was the second title in two days for the Emirati, who captured his first World Bowling Tour title and the $25,000 top prize in the 12th Kingdom of Bahrain International Bowling Championship on Friday.

The top 16 Asian bowlers qualified for the ABF Tour leg. Al-Hassan bowled games of 210 (vs. Ahmed Fareed, Bahrain, 181), 238 (vs. Michael Mak, Hong Kong, 211) and 216 (vs. Hareb Al-Mansoori, UAE, 160) to advance to the title match.

Janahi ousted Yousif Falah, Bahrain (197-179), Ryan Lalisang, Indonesia (215-202) and Sithiphol Kunaksorn, Thailand (177-169) on his way to the title match.

Al-Hassan received 75 ranking points for the victory to take the early lead in the 2014 ABFT point ranking. Janahi is second with 60 points.

The 2014 ABF Tour consists of nine legs, five in the Middle East (Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, UAE and Saudi Arabia) with a men's division only and four in East and South East Asia (Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau and Indonesia) featuring men and women in separate divisions.

Players earn ranking points based on how they finish in each event. The top 16 men and the top 16 women at the end of the 2014 season qualify for the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions scheduled for March 2015 (tbc) in Kuwait.

The second leg of the 2014 Tour will be held on March 15 at Cozmo Bowling Center in Kuwait City in conjunction with the World Bowling Tour's 11th Kuwait International Open (March 10-14, 2014). Following the Kuwait leg is the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions, the finals of the 2013 Tour, March 16-17, again at Cozmo Bowling Center.
