Mahmood Al-Attar wins his first Asian Bowling Federation Tour title in Kuwait

UAE national team member Mahmood Al-Attar defeated local favorite Khaled Al-Dubyyan of Kuwait, 217-184, to claim his first career Asian Bowling Federation Tour title Saturday at Cozmo Bowling Center in Salmiya, Kuwait.
The top 16 Asian bowlers in the 11th Kuwait International Open 2014 qualified for the second leg of the 2014 ABF Tour. In the title match, 23-year-old Al-Attar, who won the 2013 Dubai Open, pulled away with a four-bagger in frames 2-5 and never looked back.
It was the second consecutive title for the Emirates in as many events in the 2014 season. Shaker Al-Hassan, who won the opening event in Bahrain, was eliminated in the Round of 16.
Al-Attar averaged 224.50 in his four matches defeating compatriot Hareb Al-Mansoori in the opening round, 210-190, followed by victories over Basel Al-Anzi, Kuwait (218-204) and Sithiphol Kunaksorn, Thailand (253-236) in the quarterfinal and semifinal matches, respectively.
Former World Ranking Masters champion Al-Dubyyan defeated fellow countryman Jassim Darwish (248-154), Qatar's Yousef Al-Jaber (268-248) and UAE's Hussain Al-Suwaidi (233-213) on his way to the title match.

Following the Kuwait leg is the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions, the finals of the 2013 Tour, March 16-17, once again at Cozmo Bowling Center.
The 2014 ABF Tour consists of nine legs, five in the Middle East (Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, UAE and Saudi Arabia) with a men's division only and four in East and South East Asia (Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau and Indonesia) featuring men and women in separate divisions.
Players earn ranking points based on how they finish in each event. The top 16 men and the top 16 women at the end of the 2014 season qualify for the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions scheduled for March 2015 (tbc) in Kuwait.
The next leg in the 2014 tour calendar is the Thailand leg on April 17 after the 40th MWA Thailand International Open, the first of four legs in East and South East Asia which have women division while those in the Middle East only feature the men.
