Mohamed Al Saud (pictured with the ABFT trophy) captured his second career Asian Bowling Federation (ABF) Tour title in the 2014 Tour's Egypt leg Thursday at the International Bowling Center in Cairo. In the title match, the Saudi Arabian Prince defeated defending champion Ayman Hashem, Egypt, 215-182, to seal his second victory after winning the 2013 stop in the UAE.

The top 16 Asian men in the 16th Sinai International Open Bowling Tournament qualified for the fourth leg of the 2014 ABF Tour. There was no women's event in Cairo.

Al-Saud started the one-game single-elimination finals with back-to-back 215-206 wins against Hossam Sobhy, Egypt and Rakan Al-Ameeri, Kuwait, 215-206, in the Rounds of 18 and 8, respectively.

Hashem got a bye in the opening round as his opponent, Maher Abd Alhussien, Iraq, didn't show up, then ousted Sinai Open champion Mohamed Janahi, Bahrain, 204-199, to meet compatriot Mahmoud Mazloum in the semifinals.

Hashem sidelined Mazloum, while Al Saud topped Sinai Open third-place finisher Jassim Darwish, Kuwait, 235-220, in the other semifinal match.

Both finalists struggled in the title match managing to strike in only three frames (Hashem 3 and 5; Al Saud 4). After missing two consecutive 10-pin spares in the fifth and sixth frame, the Saudi was down by 11 pins (106-95) heading into the last four frames.

While the local favorite sandwiched three strikes around an open in the ninth frame, Al Saud went off the sheet as he closed out with six consecutive strikes to seal the victory, 215-182.

The 2014 ABF Tour consists of nine legs, five in the Middle East (Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, UAE and Saudi Arabia) with a men's division only and four in East and South East Asia (Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau and Indonesia) featuring men and women in separate divisions.

Players earn ranking points based on how they finish in each event. The top 16 men and the top 16 women at the end of the 2014 season qualify for the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions scheduled for March 2015 (tbc) in Egypt.

The ABF Tour will takes a six-week break before heading to East Asia for a double-header in Hong Kong (June 16) and Macau (June 23). Both events will have a men's and women's division.
