The PABCON Women's Championships, which begin Saturday live on BOWL.com's BowlTV, will be the final opportunity for the United States' women's team to qualify for the Pan American Games, which will take place in Toronto, Canada, next year. The Team USA men have already qualified.

The U.S. team will be made up of Shannon O'Keefe of O'Fallon, Illinois, Missy Parkin of Laguna Hills, California, Liz Johnson of Cheektowaga, New York, Danielle McEwan of Stony Point, New York, Shannon Pluhowsky of Dayton, Ohio, and Kelly Kulick of Union, New Jersey.

"The Pan American Games are the closest event to the Olympics bowling has at this moment, so making sure our women's team qualifies is the number one goal for us," Team USA head coach Rod Ross said. "The competition in PABCON is always tough, but we are sending a very talented squad."

Eight countries have already qualified for the Pan American Games, which at this point will feature 14 countries. Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico and Venezuela have already secured spots.

There are seven countries competing in the PABCON Women's Championships that have yet to qualify and four will earn spots. Those countries are Aruba, the Bahamas, the United States, Guatemala, Panama, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

The four qualifying countries at the PABCON Women's Championships will be determined by taking the combined all-events total of the top two bowlers. From those standings, the top four countries will earn spots in the Pan American Games.

The final two spots in the Pan American Games will come from the Central and Caribbean Games, in which the United States is not eligible to compete.

The PABCON Women's Championships will also award medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team, All-Events and Masters. Competition at Bolera Departamental, a 20-laner inside the Cali sports complex, begins Saturday, September 13, with Singles and wraps up Wednesday, September 17, with Masters.
