Tickets now available for GEICO PBA World Series of Bowling VI TV finals

Tickets for ESPN telecasts of the GEICO PBA World Series of Bowling VI Nov. 1-2 and the live telecast of the PBA World Championship Finals Jan. 11 at the new South Point Bowling Stadium in Las Vegas are now available.
The premier showcase of international professional bowling competition will include the four-player stepladder finals of four traditional PBA "animal lane condition pattern" contests – the Cheetah, Viper, Chameleon and Scorpion Championships – on Saturday, Nov. 1; a new PBA Challenge telecast and the World Bowling Tour Men's and Women's Finals presented by the PBA on Sunday, Nov. 2, and the live PBA World Championship finals on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT).
The PBA Challenge will include four special matches: the PBA Regional Finals, PBA Women's Regional Finals, PBA50 Tour Finals and Teen Masters Grand Championship.
Admission to all finals is free, but tickets must be obtained either through the PBA website or on site at the South Point Bowling Center. A limited number of tickets will be available for each event on a first-come basis.
The WSOB VI television series will result in seven programs and 10 hours of coverage on ESPN beginning on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. ET. PBA will also provide more than 50 hours of World Series preliminary round coverage through its online bowling channel Xtra Frame.
The Saturday, Nov. 1, schedule is: PBA Cheetah Championship presented by PBA Bowling Challenge Mobile Game at noon, PBA Viper Championship at 2 p.m.; PBA Chameleon Championship at 4:45 p.m., and PBA Scorpion Championship at 6:30 p.m.
The Sunday, Nov. 2, schedule is PBA Challenge at 11 a.m. and the WBT Men's and Women's Finals presented by PBA at 2:45 p.m.
PBA Hall of Famer Norm Duke's Next Level Bowling, in cooperation with Tidewater Charities, conducted its second annual Bowling for Vets fund-raiser event in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Friday, Aug. 29, and generated a $10,000 share of the more than $50,000 raised for the Folds of Honor Foundation which benefits military veterans and their families.
The bowling event, held in conjunction with the Tidewater Golf Patriot Day event, featured Duke (pictured) doing trick shots, signing autographs and meeting with veterans and their families.
Mike Riccitelli of Carolina Shores, N.C., won a special VIP World Series of Bowling VI package that will include two round-trip tickets to the WSOB, lodging at South Point Hotel and tickets for the TV shows.
A team dominated by PBA women members will try to qualify the United States for a berth in the 2015 Pan American Games next week in the Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) Women's Championships in Cali, Colombia.
PBA Tour champion Kelly Kulick of Union, N.J.; PBA Regional title-winners Shannon O'Keefe of O'Fallon, Illinois; Missy Parkin of Laguna Hills, Calif.; Liz Johnson of Cheektowaga, N.Y., and PBA Women's Series titlist Shannon Pluhowsky of Kettering, Ohio, along with amateur Danielle McEwan of Stony Point, N.Y., will represent Team USA in Colombia where PABCON Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team, All-Events and Masters titles will be decided.
In order to clinch a berth in the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, the top two U.S. players in combined all-events pinfall must finish among the top four out of seven teams that have not yet qualified for the Pan Am Games.
The Team USA men previously qualified for their berth during the Pan American Sports Festival in Mexico in July.
Wes Malott (pictured) from Pflugerville, Texas, cruised past George Brooks of Loveland, Colorado, 268-155, to win the $4,500 first prize in the inaugural PBA Grand Hotel, Casino and Resort Southwest Invitational at FireLake Bowling Center in Shawnee, Okla., Sunday. The entire event was covered live on PBA's Xtra Frame online bowling channel.
Malott, a last-minute entry into the limited elite field, filled a vacancy created by a bowler who withdrew due to injury two days prior to the invitational tournament. After qualifying second and earning a berth into the Round of 8, Malott started his road to victory by eliminating Ryan Boroff of Mansfield, Texas, 2-0 in their best two-of-three game match. Malott then defeated PBA Southwest Region Hall of Fame inductee David Anthony from Austin, Texas, 245-217, in their semifinal round match.
Brooks, who qualified fourth, earned his berth in the final match by defeating PBA champion Mike Edwards from Tulsa, Okla., 2-1 in their best-of-three-game Round of 8 match, followed by a 245-234 victory over Nathan Bohr of Austin Texas, in the semifinal round.
Chris Loschetter (center, with Astro Lanes owners Dave Jeanneret, left, and Linus Hartings) of Avon, Ohio, was perfect in defeating Ryan Ciminelli of Cheektowaga, N.Y., 300-210, to win the PBA Moon City Central Classic presented by Roto Grip at Astro Lanes in Wapakoneta, Ohio, Sunday. The title was Loschetter's 12th career PBA Regional title. He also earned $3,000.
Ciminelli defeated Kyle Troup of Taylorsville, N.C., 225-215, to advance to the championship match. In the first stepladder match, Ciminelli eliminated Jason Sterner of Covington, Ga., 237-182.
Sammy Ventura (right, with proprietor Frank Carnicelli) of Syracuse, N.Y., defeated Terry Wiley of Vienna, Va., 188-170, to successfully defend his PBA50 Howell Lanes Eastern Open title in Howell, N.J. Sunday.
Ventura, who had not won since last year's Howell event, was the recipient of a number of fortunate breaks throughout the elimination finals. He advanced through the best-of-five-game Round of 16, defeating amateur Douglas Rehrig of Berlin, N.J., without rolling a game over 199. He lost the first game in the best-of-three game Round of 8, but won the next two games by a total of 12 pins.
He then won his semi-final round match over Mike Tryniski of Fulton, N.Y., 202-201, when Tryniski, who needed three strikes in the final frame, left an eight pin after striking twice, and he won his sixth career title and the $1,500 top prize when Wiley failed to strike in his 10th frame.
Dave Traber (right) of Hebron, Ill., defeated Don Holmes of Itasca, Ill., in a sudden-death roll-off to win the PBA50 Illinois Valley Midwest Classic presented by Ebonite on Saturday at Illinois Valley Super Bowl in Peru, Ill., and Rick Woloszyn of Griffith, Ind., completed the doubleheader weekend by defeating John Dudak of Orland Park, Ill., 193-189, on Sunday for his first PBA Regional title and a $1,500 first prize.
On Saturday, Traber nipped Holmes, 30-28 in a 10th-frame roll-off, after they tied at 228-228 to collect the $1,500 first prize and his 32nd overall PBA Regional title.
Jim Pratt of Glendale, Ariz., posted a 9-7 match play record and a 24-game total of 5,799 pins to win his fourth PBA Regional title in the PBA West Rufus Open presented by Columbia 300 at Flip Side Lanes Sunday. Pratt, who earned $2,500, defeated Dave Wodka of Henderson, Nev., by 11 pins for the win.
The Sept. 12-14 PBA Regional calendar includes the PBA McAlester Southwest Open at Great Balls of Fire Entertainment Center in McAlester, Okla.; the PBA50 Lakeview Lanes East Open in Fulton, N.Y.; the PBA Budweiser Midwest Open presented by Dexter at Diamond Jo Casino's Cherry Lanes in Dubuque, Iowa (a PBA Women's Regional points event which will be covered live by Xtra Frame), and a return to action in the PBA Japan Region with the Viper Open at Sagami First Lane in Kanagawa on Monday, Sept. 15.
On the Sept. 19-21 PBA Regional calendar are the PBA Rex & Griffin Bigelow Memorial Central Open at Troy Bowl in Troy, Ohio; the PBA/PBA50 Ken & Kathy Fowler Auto Centers West/Northwest Doubles at Yokayo Bowling Center in Ukiah, Calif., and the PBA Odessa Southwest Open at Astro Bowl in Odessa, Texas.
Closing out the month over the Sept. 26-28 weekend will be the PBA Tomball Southwest Open at Tomball Bowl in Tomball, Texas (the Southwest Region's third-and-final PBA Women's qualifying event); the PBA and PBA50 Fog City West Open presented by Rotor Grip at Classic Bowling Center in Daly City, Calif.; the PBA Break Point Alley Member/Non-Member Doubles (a reduced entry fee event) in Tavares, Fla.; the PBA50 Mel Westrich Memorial Central/Midwest Open presented by Storm at Delphos Recreation Center in Delphos, Ohio; the PBA Midcontinent Communications Midwest Open at Empire Bowl in Sioux Falls, S.D., and the PBA Pavlinko Pro Shops Eastern Open (a one-day re-entry event on Sunday) at Brunswick Zone in Turnersville, N.J.
