Defending champion Robin Romeo (pictured) of Newhall, California, is one of eight bowlers still perfect at the 2015 United States Bowling Congress Senior Queens.

The 57-year-old right-hander earned the top seed for the double-elimination match-play bracket by averaging more than 207 through 15 games of qualifying and rolled through two matches Sunday at The Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley relatively untested.

Romeo opened match play with a 608-432 win against Joanne Herman of Natick, Massachusetts, and finished the day with a 596-519 victory over Camille Kohner of Bloomington, Minnesota.

"So far, I feel like I'm throwing a lot of good shots and not giving away the pocket at all," said Romeo, a USBC Hall of Famer.

"I know the scores aren't crazy, so I just want to keep the ball around the pocket and stay focused. I've made the right ball decisions, and I feel good, confident and comfortable. I'm looking forward to tomorrow."

2013USBCTripleCrownShootOutLucySandelin2.jpg2014PBA50TishJohnson.jpgRomeo's first match Monday will be against fellow hall of famer and two-time Senior Queens champion Lucy Sandelin (left) of Tampa, Florida, who remained undefeated with wins against Linda Andrews of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Tayna Fulmer of McKinney, Texas.

The winners bracket also includes 2010 Senior Queens winner Char Hammel of Las Vegas, 2011 champion Paula Vidad of Sun City, California, and USBC Hall of Famer Tish Johnson (right) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, the runner-up in 2013 and 2014.

"Lucy and I always have some pretty good matches, and I think tomorrow will be a pretty tight match, too," said Romeo, who is looking to become the fourth bowler to win the Senior Queens multiple times.

"At the same time, you can't worry about who you're bowling. You just have to focus on what you're doing in your own game. I'll just think about it one match at a time. I definitely don't want to get too far ahead of myself."

Match play will continue through Monday until the final five are determined for the stepladder finals. BowlTV will broadcast the finals on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Eastern.

The player who survives the bracket to win the event will take home $3,000 of the $20,600 prize fund. The Senior Queens is open to all female USBC members age 50 and older.
