Robin Crawford-Orlikowski, Dan MacLelland capture Canadian National titles



    2016TeamCanadaRobinCrawfordOrlikowski.jpg2016TeamCanadaDanMacLelland.jpgRobin Crawford-Orlikowski (pictured left) of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Dan MacLelland (right) from Kitchener, Ontario captured the women's and men's Canadian National titles at the 2016 Canadian Team Trials, which was held at Leisure Lanes in Oshawa, Ontario May 14-18.

    Crawford-Orlikowski has been on Team Canada 12 times but for the first time she walked away with the gold medal in the adult division.

    Seeded third for the women's stepladder finals, Crawford-Orlikowski defeated top-seeded Valerie Calberry, who lives in Warwick, Rhode Island, twice, 181-179 and 217-180, for the women's title.

    In the semi-final match, Crawford-Orlikowski took down Miranda Panas of St. Catharines, ON, 220-178, for the right to bowl Calberry for the title.

    MacLelland is also no rookie to Team Canada. The PBA touring pro has been on the adult team 4 times and won the gold medal in Singles at the 2014 Men's World Championships in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

    2016TeamCanadaAdultMen.jpgIn the men's title match, top-seeded MacLelland flew past Francois Lavoie of Quebec City, PQ, 280-194. Lavoie equally easily defeated Mitch Hupe of Winnipeg, MB, 279-205.

    Rounding out the Canadian men's national team for 2016 (right) will be Joe Ciach from Mississauga, ON, Travis Cauley of Hamilton, ON and Ray Vervynck from Whitby, ON.

    The High Performance selection committee will add two selections to both teams to complete the line-ups for the 2016 competition season.

    2016TeamCanadaSeniorsWSrC.jpgBoth men's and ladies Senior Champions, France Joubert and Ray Vervynck, bowled their way onto the adult teams for the 2016 season. Four men and four women (left) will compete at the 2nd World Seniors Championships at Sam' Town Bowling Center in Las Vegas, Nev., USA (Aug. 23-30, 2015).

    Joubert will be joined on Senior Team Canada by Susan Grande of Winnipeg, MB, Jill Friis from London, ON, who won a silver medal at the inaugural World Seniors Championships (2013, Las Vegas, USA), along with Dara Sinclair from Sarnia, ON.

    2016TeamCanadaSeniorsPABCON.jpgVervynck, who won a bronze medal for the senior men at the first Senior World Championships will be joined by Todd Sim from Belle River, ON, former Team Canada member Fred Phillips of London, On and part-time PBA50 Tour member John Chapman of Toronto, ON.

    The women's team for the 2016 PABCON Senior Championships (right) will comprise of Deb Uter, Surrey , BC; Lorraine Fast, AB; Edith Lee and Elizabeth Wong, Calgary, AB.

    The senior men's team will consist of Russel Serwetnyk, Toronto, ON; Richard Lafleur, PQ; Donald Lee, Toronto, ON; and Michael Snow, Windsor, ON.

    2016TeamCanadaYouthGirls.jpgBoth Youth Champions, Miranda Panas and Mitch Hupe, bowled their way onto the Adult National Teams and visited the podium by winning the bronze medals.

    Panas will be joined on the youth girls team (left) by Kelsi Beauchamp of Saskatoon, SK; Mykaela Mitchell, London, ON; Brittney Turcotte, Chateauguay, PQ; and Maude Demers, Quebec, PQ.

    2016TeamCanadaYouthBoys.jpgRounding out the youth boys team with Hupe will be Dylin Hunter, Windsor, ON; Nathan Ruest-Lajoie, Cabano, PQ; Jordan Klassen, St. Catharines, ON; and Jakob Bowden, Oshawa, ON.

    The 2016 Canadian Team Trials attracted 164 bowlers from across the country. The field comprised of 36 senior men, 13 senior ladies, 23 youth boys, 19 youth girls with the remaining 73 men and women bowling for positions on the adult teams.
